Dragonfly Paradise
Name of Maker: Monique Kleinhans
Dragonfly Paradise - I have always loved dragonflies, and so this pattern jumped off the shelf at me when I first saw it.
Autumn at
Name of Maker: Monique Kleinhans
Autumn at "the Cabin" - Using photos taken around the Cabin during the fall, I created leaf blocks on different shades of blue to match the changing sky in this area during the fall months. The border is a pieced border from the Border Workbook by Janet Kime.
Moonlight Dreams
Name of Maker: Monique Kleinhans
Moonlight Dreams - I made the thread art fish during a class with Ellen Ann Eddy, and then pieced together a background using oriental fabrics and angelina for embellishment.
Garden Gifts
Name of Maker: Robin Wheat
Garden Gifts - These flower blocks were completed as a Block of the Month project through my local quilt shop, Sew 'n Sew in Fort Bragg, CA. The posie border is a combination of small nine patches and some leaves I learned to make in a Barbara Dieges class. The completed quilt includes a piping stem running through the border that I saw on Simply Quilts. When completed, I knew this would be the perfect birthday present for my sister, Cris, for a 'milestone' birthday this year. Cindi Jo did a lovely quilting job of vines, leaves and echo quilt designs as well as freehand on each individual bloom.
Under the Sea
Name of Maker: Monique Kleinhans
Under the Sea - A child's quilt, made using bright batik water tones and applique characters based off of line drawings in my Nieces coloring books.
California Poppies
Name of Maker: DixieT
California Poppies - I was inspired by a picture on a catalog by Coldwater Creek of a field of poppies in all the colors you see in this quilt. I used all batik fabrics and to make the center I cut a square of freezer paper, folded it corner to corner twice and cut a giant snowflake to get the center design. I then fused it with fusible web and satin stitched all around. I added the simple stars all around, and this time all the points are perfect! Lastly, I added the poppies with the fusible web, winging it on the shapes.
Dude Ranch Star
Name of Maker: DixieT
Dude Ranch Star - After finding a wonderful fat quarter pack of Moda's Dude Ranch fabric which has a loose weave, but awesome stripes that reminded me of growing up in New Mexico I drafted the middle star on graph paper and had the idea to fill in around the star with many different black fabrics. This was my first attempt at paper piecing and I really didn't know what I was doing and made a lot of mistakes! Once the middle was completed I decided to surround it with more dude ranch blocks and wanted something easy, so I used the half square triangle stars and the square in a square blocks. This project made me realize what a challenge piecing is because if you were able to look closely you would see the tips of the stars are cut off-BUT the middle star looks great!
Roses In the Creek
Name of Maker: DixieT
Roses In the Creek - I used Dina Pappas' method with a soft fusible backing that has a grid painted on it in 2 inch squares, making it easier to place each cut square and simply fold and sew a straight line. This quilt took FOREVER to make! Then, I got a crazy idea and decided to add my own touch with the roses, made of the yellow fabrics in the quilt, which I quickly tired of making after the first one, lol! The quilt turned out VERY heavy due to all the seams and the fusible backing, so I gave it to my stepmom who is always cold.
Soccer Coach Tom Quilt
Name of Maker: DixieT and the soccer team
Soccer Coach Tom Quilt - This quilt was created for my daughter's soccer coach. My best friend and I decided to have each team member use permanent marker to write a message on the white squares and we used the team colors in fabrics to surround each white block. I used freezer paper, a craft knife, light box, and fabric paint to trace the logo in the middle of the quilt. Tom the coach was very passionate about not getting monetary gifts from the team members, but when we all gathered around him to watch him open this gift he teared up and said his grandmother was a quilter and it meant a lot to him!

My First Quilt
Name of Maker: DixieT
My First Quilt - I bought a book I was drawn to with celtic designs made using bias tube strips and a pattern from the book of the lover's knot design. I made this quilt for friends of my family for their first baby boy. They named him Noah, and I was able to find a Noah's ark stencil which I used to quilt in the border of this quilt.
