This is exciting news. About a year ago, The Metropolitan Museum of Art gave “open access” to all of the high-resolution imagery of the over 375,000 public domain works. Included in this access, quilts!

Be sure to click on the pictures to get up close. The photography is, of course, excellent. Here is the full view of the Wholecloth Whitework Quilt by J. Wright 1815. It is one of our favorites.

Last week we discussed who was the Dedicated Quilter and from the response, there are many who either thought they were a Dedicated Quilter or felt they didn't quite fit the description. Now, I am wondering about another aspect of my quilting life. I know there are some days I think my entire life is consumed by quilting, but in reality, although it is an important aspect, I also find passion in many other art forms...and, I wonder if this variety just spreads the creativity thin or if it provides enhancements. What do you think?

I love cross stitch and some days find myself torn between piecing or cross stitching.  It's kind of like walking into a really awesome bakery and trying to decide between an eclair and a cream puff, LOL.  I can't choose...I want them both!

Another enjoyment is embroidery...

And lately, I have been expanding my cooking skills...all of this does take time and squeezing it all in means the minutes required for this life is more than a 60 minute hour...I could use a 90 minute hour, LOL.  I also wonder am I becoming a jack of all quilts and a master of none or does all this variety provide the spice needed for a fabulous quilting life?

So, share with me...besides quilting what else makes you excited? Do you feel like there is not enough minutes in a day? Are you into Cooking, Painting, Writing, Running, Skiing....Inquiring minds want to know?! How and Where do you find the balance?

The quilt, White Lace on Red Velvet, looks exactly like what it says it is, but how did Lauretta Crites achieve the effect? Is it a photograph? Is it embroidery? Is it actually lace on velvet? However she chose to make it, the quilt is stunning

Lauretta's quilt was displayed at the Houston Quilt Festival in 2016.

Ricky recently had a new door hung in his home. Or should we say an "old" door. Ricky's door is from Egypt and is not exactly new. It is however quite beautiful. Take a look at Ricky's door and then watch the video showcasing "The Top Ten Most Beautiful Doors Around the World."

TQS was "wowed" during its visit to the AQS quilt show in Phoenix, 2016. Flowering from Symphony of Colors, a Japanese exhibit, knocked our socks off. Sachiko Yoshida's subtle use of color and amazing handwork created an absolutely stunning piece of art.
