How Was This Quilt Made?

The quilt, White Lace on Red Velvet, looks exactly like what it says it is, but how did Lauretta Crites achieve the effect? Is it a photograph? Is it embroidery? Is it actually lace on velvet? However she chose to make it, the quilt is stunning

Lauretta's quilt was displayed at the Houston Quilt Festival in 2016.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I loved making this quilt, my tribute to lacemaking. I used a variety of specialty fabric, couched cording, and painting on this quilt. I'd love to show your viewers how it was done.

Just love it, and can't really figure out how it's put together. I can't figure out how the photograph of the hankie is overlaid over the red velvet?. I keep thinking I have it, but then I'm not so sure. Would love if you had a segment on how this quilt was done

Nice quilt. It would be great if the blog post photos showed up without distortion on my iPhone, though. It’s the one thing I find consistently frustrating about your blog.
