This is exciting news. About a year ago, The Metropolitan Museum of Art gave “open access” to all of the high-resolution imagery of the over 375,000 public domain works. Included in this access, quilts!
 
Be sure to click on the pictures to get up close. The photography is, of course, excellent. Here is the full view of the Wholecloth Whitework Quilt by J. Wright 1815. It is one of our favorites.

Thank you, TQS, for sharing this information about the Met’s decision to provide access. Good for them! Besides enjoying quilts, I am gratified to see how past quiltmakers’ work is cherished and preserved.
