Kips 9-Patch
Name of Maker: Karen A. Kelly
Kips 9-Patch - A WIP that is just MY way of laying out my 9 patch blocks - the fabric is what is lovely - jewel tones with sparkly glitter embedded in the fabric. Haven't decided on a border yet. Any suggestions??
Kaitlins Kitty Kwilt
Name of Maker: Karen A. Kelly
Kaitlins Kitty Kwilt - Made for my VERY good friend, Kaitlin, on the occasion of her 10th Birthday, March 31, 2007.
Garrys War Quilt
Name of Maker: Karen A. Kelly
Garrys War Quilt - This mini quilt was made for my friend Garry who will be shipping out for Iraq around August 24, 2007. I made it to show him MY support of our troops in Iraq. It is adapted from the Civil War when ladies of the house made a quilt for their husband, brother, father, fiancee or friend that was going off to war. It was a reminder for the soldier of his family waiting at home for him. I had Garry's family and friends sign his quilt so he can take it with him to help keep his family close, give him a pillow to lay his head upon and perhaps wear it under his shirt to help keep him safe. The size is approximately 24 X 17 inches so it is not an inconvenience to take with him. I also made a lined canvas bag for the quilt to be stored in when Garry comes home, in case (God forbid) one of his children has to go to war one day & then HIS or HER family can also sign it at that time.
Best Friend
Name of Maker: Cathy Bales
Best Friend - This is a candelmat that I made for a swap within my quilt group.
My first wall hanging
Name of Maker: Jessimina
My first wall hanging - I made two small table runners before this project. This was my first real quilt (at least I think of it that way). While they are hard to see in this picture, I quilted stars around the outside border in light violet/purple metallic thread. I am way too new to try free form quilting so I used a template, and straight stitched the stars.
Fishy Fantasy
Name of Maker: Cathy Bales
Fishy Fantasy - This quilt was made and given to the Child Advocacy Center in Tyler Tx. It is made from Donna Dewberry fabric.
Blue's Clues
Name of Maker: Cathy Bales
Blue's Clues - This was made from a fabric panel and given to the Child Advocacy Center in Tyler TX for childern.
Liane's Turtles
Name of Maker: Laura Dean
Liane's Turtles - My daughter-in-law, Laura, made this quilt for her second child (our second grandchild), Liane Elizabeth. This pattern caught Laura's attention when it was published in 2004 and this was the quilt she wanted to make for Liane's birth. This is Laura's first quilt to to piece totally by herself. Taking care of two little girls didn't leave her much time to work on it so she finished piecing the quilt top and then let me quilt it and bind it. Laura and I enjoy working on quilts together.
Kelsye's Kinship Quilt
Name of Maker: Jeanette Dean
Kelsye's Kinship Quilt - This quilt was made for our first Grandchild, Kelsye Indigo Dean, born on November 28, 2003. Many of the squares were made by family members - relatives of both of Kelsye's parents in honor of Kelsye's birth. This was my first quilt. I have learned a lot since making this quilt!
Marine Marriage Sunrise
Name of Maker: Jeanette Dean
Marine Marriage Sunrise - This quilt was made for my son's wedding. Jeff married Kristin on June 4, 2005. Jeff is a Marine and graduated from the Naval Academy. "Making Waves" seemed like an appropriate pattern name for a Naval Academy grad. Kristin loves shades of violet and purple. My other daughter-in-law, Laura, helped me select the pattern and the fabric. The quilt is queen size and was machine pieced and quilted on my Bernina 440.
Wonky Log Cabins
Name of Maker: Leslie Sorenson
Wonky Log Cabins - This quilt, made in a class by Amy Stewart Winsor, was my first attempt at an art quilt. It sat around forever waiting for me to get up the courage to embellish it. Once I got started, it was great fun.
Height Chart Quilt
Name of Maker: Ashley
Height Chart Quilt - My nephew's name is Hudson, and his father is an architect, so we did a "NY" theme, with the buildings of NY, and the checkered cab border. My husband helped design it. You can't see it, but I spent a lot of time adding different stitches for each letter and number in the applique, and I even added a little butterfly, because those are my nephew's favorite.
First Baby Quilt
Name of Maker: Ashley
First Baby Quilt - I just picked out some fabrics and started sewing! I heard you should use polyester batting for baby quilts, but in the end I've found I prefer cotton. But practice makes perfect! I thought for sure my sister was having a girl, but now we've learned she's having another boy! Oh well, I guess they'll have to try again. I added some embroidered hearts in the middle, because I'm an experienced embroiderer, but this was only my first quilt, so I thought I should jazz it up a little.
Shades of Frank Lloyd Wright
Name of Maker: JackieOL
Shades of Frank Lloyd Wright - These are Roman Shades in my bedroom. I love the way they turned out! The strips are cut one inch smaller that the pattern called for and I omitted the center braid. You can not tell from the picture, but when the sun shines on the shades they look like stained glass because of the multi layers of the seams.
Lighting Strikes
Name of Maker: JackieOL
Lighting Strikes - I said I would never make a queen size bargello, and I've also learned to never say never! I made the borders a little smaller because it will be displayed on our familyroom wall not on the bed. It took hours and hours but I love the results. Will I make another? Not any time soon!
Take the Steps
Name of Maker: Sharon C.
Take the Steps - "Take the Steps" is a visual representation of recovery through the 12 steps. The arch is from a passage on page 62-63 in the AA Big Book, which refers to the "new and triumphant arch through which we passed to freedom." Hand-drawn and machine appliqued with thanks to Vikki Pignatelli's "Quilting Curves."
Kaitlyn's First Quilt
Name of Maker: Megan Lucas
Kaitlyn's First Quilt - My first quilt made after being inspired by Simply Quilts and Alex. Made for my niece for her second birthday and of course it had to have pink as the emphasis
Summers day
Name of Maker: Shelly Lacelle
Summers day - My appologizes to the designer of the great book this quilt came from. I really enjoyed making this quilt, the precision of each point was made using trapizoids! I did'nt even know what a trapizoid was until making this quilt.
Kitty City
Name of Maker: Emily Lacelle
Kitty City - Kitty City is the first quilt made by my daughter, you can't help but love the bright colours, and we backed it in minkee, so it's extra soft and cozy!
