Design Source - Description | This mini quilt was made for my friend Garry who will be shipping out for Iraq around August 24, 2007. I made it to show him MY support of our troops in Iraq. It is adapted from the Civil War when ladies of the house made a quilt for their husband, brother, father, fiancee or friend that was going off to war. It was a reminder for the soldier of his family waiting at home for him. I had Garry's family and friends sign his quilt so he can take it with him to help keep his family close, give him a pillow to lay his head upon and perhaps wear it under his shirt to help keep him safe. The size is approximately 24 X 17 inches so it is not an inconvenience to take with him. I also made a lined canvas bag for the quilt to be stored in when Garry comes home, in case (God forbid) one of his children has to go to war one day & then HIS or HER family can also sign it at that time. |
