Young Soldier
Name of Maker: Brandy Lynn Maslowski
Young Soldier - Upon hearing of the death of a young Canadian Trooper killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in 2007, I was torn with grief at the notion that my cousin, his best friend who had survived the explosion, would have to deal with that vision and such a profound loss for the rest of his life. This art quilt is made to honour Canadian families suffering the loss of a loved one and the Canadian soldiers still suffering from post traumatic stress.
Glacier Star
Name of Maker: Dana Robbins
Glacier Star - I have paper pieced for a long time, but had never taken a Judy Niemeyer class. I enjoyed the class and also liked the pallet that I choose which was different from the bright colors that I usually use.

The Silk Giraffe
Name of Maker: Brandy Lynn Maslowski
The Silk Giraffe - This quilt was designed as a private commission for a client to give as a baby gift. It was designed around the colour scheme of the baby room and the layette they had chosen for the new arrival. The joyful recipients sent me this lovely photo of their tiny infant on the quilt with permission to use the photo. The circles are designed using multiple textures of fabric such as minky, faux leather, flannel and silk for little fingers to explore. The giraffe is made entirely of silk.
Damsel Fly
Name of Maker: Brandy Lynn Maslowski
Damsel Fly - Damsel Fly is a photo inspired quilt. It was created from photo to sketch to fibre using a reverse bobbin stitching technique to transfer the design to the quilt surface. The colour/detail was then filled in with acrylic paint and thread painting. This piece sold in 2012 at a Cafe Gallery in Okanagan Falls, BC Canada.

Holo-Holo (Bummin') Kauai
Name of Maker: Jeannette Larson
Holo-Holo (Bummin') Kauai - This is a Ricky Tims Rhapsody-style quilt inspired by a trip my daughter and I took to Kauai to celebrate her 37th birthday. I combined my love of Rhapsody-style quilt making with my love of Hawaiian quilting. the center of the quilt was inspired by our trip to the Kauai Hindu Monastery, and the hibiscus flowers all over the island. There is a bump on the the waves in the border, and that, my friends, represents my daughter's bum as she was snorkeling in the ocean.
