Earthly Falls
Name of Maker: seamswiggly
Earthly Falls - My father was diagnosed with cancer about this time, and I got very sad, yet I wanted to work through the feelings with a quilt that symbolized the cycle of life. I love autumn and I knew it would be the theme of the quilt. I hand appliqued the leaves with buttonhole stitch around them. I had sewn a lot in my younger days (first taught by my grandmother, who was excellent at it). I had dabbled in stained glass but found it made holes in my carpet (molten lead) so I decided to make quilts instead. Because of my training in stained glass, I wanted to make the sun shine through the quilt so I posed it in front of a window. Cloth doesn't wear as sturdily as stained glass, so I decided not to leave it in front of the window.
Spring
Name of Maker: seemswiggly
Spring - After my father passed away I wanted to make a "hopeful" quilt. I found this pattern in a quilt calendar I'd purchased and I fell in love with the design by Debby Kratovil. This is my first totally handquilted piece, and it took me a year to do it in my spare time. It is machine pieced, appliqued and bound. If I had to do it over, I would have done the binding by hand as I'm not satisfied with how it looks on the back. I may still rip it out and redo it. I made it smaller than the original, knowing that my spare time is rare if any at all. My sisters and I are looking after my mother now that she's 90, and I am happy to say that she and my grandmother were both quilters and I'm the only daughter that caught the "bug".

Name of Maker: Vicki Miller
Orange roses - This was my first finished quilt. I made it quilt as you go and it went very fast. I really liked the orange and blue combination, so I bought lots and I actually also sold a second one as a kit. The design was very simple. The colour made it
Circles
Name of Maker: Marjolijn
Circles - Together with some friends we spent a day quilting. We all used the same method, but all the quilts were different. So much fun to see and do. I made 9 blocks and appliqued circles. After that the block were cut in two parts and all the blocks were shuffled to make new blocks.
Mosaic
Name of Maker: Marjolijn
Mosaic - This was a workshop with free cutting and weaving of the fabrics. It was a challenge to choose the fabrics. Always the most difficult part for me.
Topstitch 2
Name of Maker: Marjolijn
Topstitch 2 - I joined a workshop topstitching. You cut the parts without a pattern, just free of hand. I made four blocks and arranged them the way I liked most. The results are stunning (ok, my point of view).
New York Beauty
Name of Maker: Marjolijn
New York Beauty - This was the first time I did some paperpiecing. It was a fun to make. Colors all mix well. It was quit an experience for me.
Strips 'n curves
Name of Maker: Marjolijn
Strips 'n curves - I took a two day workshop to learn to make the strips 'n curves. Most difficult is to choose the colors. And the quilting was a lot of work. But it is all worth the effort.

Name of Maker: Linda
Autumn Geometrics - This is my daughter and our kitty, enjoying the quilt.
Jacob's Hockey Quilt
Name of Maker: Kaye Verner
Jacob's Hockey Quilt - My grandson Jacob asked me one day on the phone what I was doing. I said 'quilting'. He said "that is all you do Grandma". I asked if I should make him a quilt, and not skipping a beat, he said "yes, and it should be a polar bear quilt" (I had already started an Under the Sea quilt, so I was quite surprised about the polar bears. "Why polar bears?"--- "because that is the name of my hockey team". He was becoming a star goalie at the time. So I Googled polar bears for pictures, that I printed onto fabric. Also I had camera shots of Jacob in action as a goalie. He is very proud of his quilt and won't sleep without it. There is one glaring mistake in the layout - can you find it?
Blue Vintage
Name of Maker: Kaye Verner
Blue Vintage - I didn't know how to shop for fabrics - the color selection was overwhelming. So I bought these Block of Month kits to teach myself how to put a quilt together. The added bonus also was that all of the pieces were already cut. It also was 'sampler' which gave me opportunity to learn different blocks. The instructions were terrific and easy to follow. I accidentally purchased the "Setting Kit" first. When I opened it I learned that I had to purchase and make all the 'blocks' that went into the Setting Kit. It was a good way for me to see what piecing was all about.
Tulip Happy
Name of Maker: Appliqued by Judy Opel & pieced by Kaye Verner
Tulip Happy - My friend Judy had appliqued these blocks in the early 50's as a teenager. These tulips were made from floor scraps provided by her aunt worked for Mode-O-Day. I thought it was such a waste to have these beautiful tulips sitting in a box, so I asked if I could take them and create a quilt for her. This was the result. My greatest challenge was to create a layout that successfully dealt with the pastel and bright color tulips. I was fortunate to find a fabric for the sashing that worked with both. The coral posts gave it the punch and structure that it needed.
Garden Party
Name of Maker: BUUF Quuilters
Garden Party - This church auction quilt combines vintage and reproduction materials. The green strips were first discharge dyed with maple leaves dipped in a bleaching solution and pressed on the cloth which was then fixed with a chlorine stop bath.
Sun Gridlock
Name of Maker: Kaye Verner
Sun Gridlock - My first quilt -- I took a class taught by Jean Wells in Sisters, OR. It was color study class, using Kaffe Fasset's Gridlock pattern. The quilt only as two alternating blocks. One has 36 two-inch squares, and the other had 3 rows - 1 with three 4-inch squares, and 2 with 4x12 strips. My challenge was to not have equal distribution of color. My quilt was to be yellow & red with green. It was hard to keep repeating the yellow.
Tulip Time
Name of Maker: Elsie M. Campbell
Tulip Time - This quilt is painted! I needed a bit of cheer one dreary January, so I painted tulips that reminded me of Spring. It's been nearly 9 years since I painted them, but I finally decided it was time to get them together and quilted. I used my freezer paper stenciling technique for the blocks. This is a technique that I love to teach to others as part of my workshop repertoire.
