Heartz
Name of Maker: Joanna Patraw and Sharon Szekely
Heartz - My mom brought this project with her as a mother daugher project to my home in CA during 2006. The project made at least 3 round trips journeys from Seattle to the Bay Area. We ended up with 3 quilts; 1 pink (I LOVE PINK), 1 red, & 1 mixed. I was able to enjoy the finished product just in time for Valentine's Day this year! Quilted on my moms long arm, for pictures check out http://community.webshots.com/user/sharonsseams2b.
Gooslings
Name of Maker: Joanna Patraw
Gooslings - This quilt had been in my UFO pile for almost 4 years. When I pulled it out a few months ago to start working on it I was blown away by how small it was. The title of the pattern book should have been a give away, but somehow I didn't pay attention. After much laughter at my LQS on Finish It Friday I got the extra tiny blocks pieced together.
Starlight by the Seashore
Name of Maker: Donna
Starlight by the Seashore - The center medallion uses Debbie Mumm's lighthouse print from a few years ago, surrounded by pinwheel blocks in blue & yellow, with an inner border accent of green. A smaller lighthouse & stars print is used for the border with friendship stars in the corners. The quilt is backed with blue flannel. It was quilted with a grid pattern, with the small lighthouses outlined with quilting on the borders.
Name of Maker: Sona Johnson
"Lunar Convergence" - Another convergence quilt using batiks. I purchased the spiral dyed fabric about a year ago and had no idea what I was going to use it for but I loved it. This seemed to be the perfect quilt for it. If you haven't tried one of Ricky's convergence quilts yet, they are a lot of fun!!! This is the first quilt that I've also used beads on.
Red and Blue Stars
Name of Maker: Sharon Haertling
Red and Blue Stars - I made this quilt from a workshop with Sally Saulmon. The stripes used in the cross block create a secondary pattern.
October Wedding
Name of Maker: Sharon Haertling
October Wedding - I made this quilt as a wedding gift for close friends. It is pieced from batiks in Autumn colors. I quilted from the back using the leaf motifs on the backing as a pattern.
Indigo & White
Name of Maker: Sherri Starr
Indigo & White - Always loved 2-color quilts..always wanted to make a double-9..so one day cut a huge bunch of 1.5 inch strips and jsut started...no plan, no pattern...just did it...miracle of miracles! ALL the pints match as the blocks come together...guess the best things just sort of happen....

Never Corny
Name of Maker: Baird Bell
Never Corny - Using a purchased panel, I designed this birthday quilt using fruit and vegetable fabrics and several variations of half-square triangle blocks. My husband is the cook and I do quilt.
Lisa's Life
Name of Maker: Baird Bell
Lisa's Life - Made for Mother's 90th birthday with signature blocks (4 children/5 grandsons) a quilter's dream number. 4 picture blocks (ages 5, 13, 25, 31) and a song completed the celebration.
Living with Three Sisters
Name of Maker: Naomi Weidner
Living with Three Sisters - Three Sisters are mountains in the Cascade Range in Oregon. I took photos of the mountains and house, then used my computer to draw on top of the photos to get the items and details I wanted to include in my quilt. I used piecing and raw-edge applique, and embellished with thread-painting trees done both separately and on the top. The mountains are thread-painted. The antlers are 3-dimensional and are hung upside down because that's the way the home owner has them displayed.
Spider Mums
Name of Maker: Shari Schmitt
Spider Mums - Cindy Walter was a guest at San Juan Quilters Guild. I was trying to make zinnas but realized I had "pointy" petals so I switched to Spider Mums. This was a fun class and I want to do some more. Just need to get with it! www.sjqg.org
Mount Rainier
Name of Maker: Naomi Weidner
Mount Rainier - Raw-edge applique postcard or Mount Rainier, Washington. I began with a digital photograph and created a pattern on my computer by drawing the features I wanted to include. Embellishments include free-motion stitching to create the details of the mountain, trees and fields in the valley. I created the postcard back by printing on fabric for the information about the postcard front, and stitching the lines for addressing and the postage stamp.
Benton County, Oregon
Name of Maker: Naomi Weidner
Benton County, Oregon - I created this postcard for an on-line quilt challenge, as a representation of life in Benton County, Oregon. I used digital photographs of the courthouse to draw my building pattern, and raw-edge applique for the postcard pieces. I added the building details with free-motion stitching. I created the trees separately using thread-painting, and stitched them to the card. I created the postcard back by printing on fabric for the information about the postcard front, and stitching the lines for addressing and the postage stamp. Binding is a single layer.
Name of Maker: Betty Ann Seeman
"Done With Mirrors" - I led a workshop for quilters who had attended Ricky's Seminar in Sarasota. I made this piece as a sample.
Christmas Puppy Show Off
Name of Maker: DragonLadyQuilts
Christmas Puppy Show Off - I was fortunate to have seen this fabric while it was still on paper. The puppies were so cute that I just had to find a way to show them off. I played around with the squares until I found a solution as a quilt block. The result is too cute for words and does a decent job of showing off the puppies.
Pond Scum
Name of Maker: Shari Schmitt
Pond Scum - We have a pond on my mother's property here in Kirtland, NM. When my nephew used to come visit he loved to be out in the pond. YUK. One day when he was with me at Santa Fe Quilting in Santa Fe he found this batik that he just loved. He called it Pond Scum. He just couldn't understand why we wouldn't make him a shirt out of the material. He would wear it when he was in the pond. I got this idea to make him a quilt and call it Pond Scum. I picked out the "scummiest" greens I could find and I even over-dyed some fabric. There are frogs and parts of frogs appliqued on the quilt. The frogs are indigenous to Kirtland. The backing is the orginal Pond Scum batik! We all now live in Kirtland, the pond is still "scummy" and even now that Jonathan is 17 years old he still loves the pond! There is a picture of backing in MY PHOTOS.
