Today we continue our selection of quilts recently displayed at the Spring Paducah 2019 show featured as part of The 14th Quilt Nihon Exhibition. The exhibit is described as:
"Organized by the Japan Handicraft Instructors' Association, the Quilt Nihon Exhibition is one of the most prestigious international quilt contests in Japan. The exhibit features 42 quilts from the "Innovative Traditional" category, which will later be exhibited at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art."
Please enjoy the second quilt from the exhibition by Yumiko Takami.
Title of Quilt: For You
Quilter's Name: Yumiko Takami
Dimensions: 74" x 74"
With up to 450 lumens of bright LED light, it is perfect for tracing appliqué pieces (even on black fabric), embroidery patterns, fussy cutting, and more.
Pair it with a Daylight cutting mat for the ultimate tracing and cutting surface. Place your template on the light box and cover it with the transparent mat, and then cut right on top! Daylight's cutting mats are perfectly sized to cover each lightbox from edge to edge, so you never have to worry about damaging the lightbox.
Alex noticed when she was talking to Barbara Black about the TQS BOM that there was a BERNINA Q 20 in the background. Because Barbara is a quilter and a teacher, Alex wanted to know why she bought it.
Well, it's not a newspaper (old joke...). It is, however, Lady in Red by Shari McDonnell-Guimont and Marlene Hiltner. This large (104" x 104") quilt has more half-square triangles than we want to count.
Lady in Red is based on the Lady of 10,000 Lakes pattern by Claudia Clark Myers...do you think there are 10,000 half-square triangles? It was exhibited at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah Spring 2019.

Congratulations to TQS members mdghall and Beech1! They are the lucky winners of an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K. Once they have their new devices installed we hope to hear back from them as they share the experience of watching The Quilt Show on their bigscreen TVs.
Thank you to all who entered.
The Quilt Show is a true TV show that Alex and Ricky decided to bring straight to the Internet. (The Quilt Show was one of the very first true TV shows made exclusively for the Internet and not just a show that was rebroadcast on the Internet.)
We recently found that the Amazon Fire Stick made watching the show (or browsing our site) very easy on your big TV. (If your Smart TV already has browsing ability, you don't need this. But if you can't browse the Internet, we found the Fire Stick a great way to sit back and watch on the big screen.)
This video will show you how it works and how to set up our site on the Fire Stick in a way that coming back and watching again is simple and fast.
We want 2 lucky winners to try this out for themselves and let us know how it works. So we will give them a Fire Stick to try.
Last day to enter is June 23, 2019.
This quilt is Missie's version of the King George III coverlet. Missie got permission to use the designs and put it together using her English Paper Piecing method which she shows us in Show 2412.

These lovely tumbled stone coasters feature the miniature quilts of artist Kate Adams. Inspired by 19th Century style quilts and crafted in antique fabrics, Kate's quilts are truly reflective of the art of traditional American quilt making.
We stared at this quilt for quite a while trying to figure out how it went together. Cairn, by Teri Biglands, is a large quilt (98" x 108") with a curved design that doesn't seem to lend itself to regular piecing. Take a look and see what you think. It's a stunning quilt. (Check out Quilting Techniques below for the answer.)
Quilting Method: Movable Machine
Quilting Techniques: Hand Piecing
Alex catches up with Barbara to talk about the Sizzle BOM June/July Blocks. They both have appliqué tips, and Alex shares one of her favorite sewing machine features.
