Sunshine Bright
Name of Maker: jetcri
Sunshine Bright - When I started this quilt I didnt care for it at all. But once I put it together with the dark purple sashing I was pleasantly surprised. Its bright and cheery and very bold colors. This quilt actually took me three years to finish. I had put it away and found it decided to finish it. thats when I added the sashing and it just came together nicely for me.
Purple People Eater
Name of Maker: Doris Goins
Purple People Eater - This is my entry into the Hoffman Challenge. My quilt will be traveling with those in Trunk A. This is my interpretation of the song "Purple People Eater" by Sheb Wooley in 1958. I hope that you get a giggle from this whimsical piece. My apologies if this song remains stuck in your head for an inordinate amount of time :)
Plume Garden Screen
Name of Maker: Becca LoGiudice
Plume Garden Screen - I designed this quilt to be entered in the Timeless Treasures Stitch Star Challenge. We had to use at least 2 fabrics from their Plume or Crush line of fabrics. I decided on a Japanese Shoji screen for the basis of the design. I used both sides of some fabrics to allow more contrast and to be ble to suggest grass, rocks & water, since most of the fabrics are the same value. Each of the four panels were constructed and quilted separately and then joined together. I was honored to have it chosen as one of 15 finalists.
Found in the Attic
Name of Maker: Norma Prigge
Found in the Attic - I found a box in the attic labeled 'Skinny Jeans': they were so out of date (and ugly!) that there was nothing to do but cut them up..
Suzanne's Universe (Back)
Name of Maker: Norma Prigge
Suzanne's Universe (Back) - This is the back of Suzanne's Universe.
Suzanne's Universe
Name of Maker: Norma Prigge
Suzanne's Universe - An experiment with inset circles.
Easy Curves
Name of Maker: Shirley Atkins
Easy Curves - I took a class with Laurie Shifrin who has authored several books on making quilts with batiks. I love batiks but I took this class because Laurie offered some exciting non-batiks and I also wanted to make a quilt with curves. I thought it would be a tremendous challenge because flanges are included on each of the curves. Laurie's applique techniques and tips throughout the class made the project go together easily and accurately.
Spooning on the Beach
Name of Maker: self
Spooning on the Beach - Two flamingos flirting on the beach with a beach ball. Very fun!!!!

Something to Crow About
Name of Maker: Gene Black
Something to Crow About - This is my version of Laura Wasilowski's Singing Chicken. I used the basic pattern but made some changes in both the pattern and construction method. I have this hanging in my work cubicle as a reminder not to take life too seriously.
Kaffe and Millie's Garden
Name of Maker: Karen Flanigan
Kaffe and Millie's Garden - This was a BOM offered by a local quilt shop (thank you instructor Joan Carrell). It actually took 2 1/2 years to complete but I am very pleased with my new machine applique skills and the resulting quilt. Background fabric is Kona and applique mostly Westminister Fabrics, primarily Kaffe Fassett.

Macaroni

My Blue Heaven
Name of Maker: BarbaraLynn
My Blue Heaven - Only 4 repeated blue fabrics and changed a few blocks because I don't applique (yet). And now I have to quilt it.
Sporty UK Sue
Name of Maker: Anne-Marie Tye
Sporty UK Sue - Started in Show and Tell. Sue is playing: Ulster camogie, Wales rugby, Scotland hammer throwing and England Cricket. The hardest part was finding an emblem acceptable to both Ulster communities.
Molly's Coffin Star
Name of Maker: Candy Prudhomme
Molly's Coffin Star - This quilt was made for my sister. She is the family geneologist and loves Halloween, so I used up most of my Halloween stash, which included 1-1/2 inch strips left from another project (braided tablerunners). I tried to research the block, but came up with nothing for the Coffin Star, which doesn't look like a star at all. The free-motion quilting includes pumpkins, bats, ghosts, monsters, spiders and webs with meandering in the 16-patches. The border fabric includes part of the witches scene from MacBeth (double, bubble, toil and trouble). See my personal photos for a detail of the quilting.
