Fanfare Log Cabin
Name of Maker: Karen Van Dijk Nielsen
Fanfare Log Cabin - I made this quilt using Japanese Quiltgate Fabric from the Gentle Flowers and Silence Beauty Collection. 100% Cotton. The original pattern used Christmas Material - but I wanted something that would go with my home surroundings and suited our tastes better. We are very happy with it. I ran out of time to Hand Quilt it, so decided to have it Long Arm Quilted.
Jans Heart
Name of Maker: Kay
Jans Heart - Memory Quilt, designed and made by me, for my girlfriends 50th Birthday
Saint John the Evangelist
Name of Maker: Ruthann Logsdon Zaroff
Saint John the Evangelist - I used Beth Wheeler's technique to print the icon of Saint John the Evangelist on fabric. I then quilted the piece using a variety of rayon threads. I did some highlighting with white Jacquard textile paint. I made this in honor of my big brother's 65th birthday. John the Evangelist is his patron saint. This image is from the 19th century and was painted on wood. In the picture you can see an eagle, which is a traditional symbol of Saint John. A close-up is on my profile.
George's quilt
Name of Maker: Florence Barnick
George's quilt - At age 4 George picked out all the fabrics. I made this quilt and taught myself how to free-motion stipple--all over! They say practice, practice, practice!
102nd Birthday Quilt
Name of Maker: Florence Barnick
102nd Birthday Quilt - This was the first "real quilt" I made (not jeans or t-shirts). Also my first free-motion quilting. Made for my Grandmother for her 102nd Birthday. She lived another year and a half, then the quilt came back to me.
Fisherman's Delight
Name of Maker: Florence Barnick
Fisherman's Delight - I was inspired by the fishing-reel fabric which was fussy-cut for the block centers. Made for my nephew as he graduated high school. The label (not shown)is a photo-tranfer of him fishing at age 3. He's now 23 and still fishes with a passion. This was my first full-sized "real" quilt (not t-shirt or jeans). Also one of the first I free-motion machine quilted, outlining the images on the backing fabric... fish, flopping around on newspapers.

Asian Moons
Name of Maker: Brenn Colson
Asian Moons - Totally original design started in a Sue Benner class at Quilting Adventures in New Braunfals, Texas. It is fused, cut apart, shuffled then refused. After cutting the circles apart, I added some hand painted fabrics. Thread painted in gold on the black background (also assembled w/ different black fabrics) are designs from real kimonos. Cranes, fans and bamboo are very typical designs on kimonos. The shapes on the moons themselves are the cloud shapes used on kimonos. The reason there are 5 panels is that the Japanese do not do things in 4s. One of the words for "4" also means "death".
Hearts 1
Name of Maker: Brenn Colson
Hearts 1 - I found this pattern in a book (totally forgot name) and adapted it a little. I was so inspired I whipped it out in no time. It was a lot of fun. It used piecing and fusing techniques.
