brenn1 Asian Moons - Totally original design started in a Sue Benner class at Quilting Adventures in New Braunfals, Texas. It is fused, cut apart, shuffled then refused. After cutting the circles apart, I added some hand painted fabrics. Thread painted in gold on the black background (also assembled w/ different black fabrics) are designs from real kimonos. Cranes, fans and bamboo are very typical designs on kimonos. The shapes on the moons themselves are the cloud shapes used on kimonos. The reason there are 5 panels is that the Japanese do not do things in 4s. One of the words for "4" also means "death".
