Tropical Sunset
Name of Maker: Kristine
Tropical Sunset - This is a Quilt pattern I designed to beable to use large scale print or pattern
Bloomin' Curves
Name of Maker: DeLynn
Bloomin' Curves - I started with some "ugly" fabric for the color scheme. Sliced, shuffled, and piece the curved background blocks. The stem and leaves were cut free form and fused to the quilt top for raw edge applique. The flower head is 3-D stuffed petals and center. I started echo quilting around the flower and stem and then my BSR took control of my hands. This was really too much quilting for the busy background but it sure was fun to do.
Star/Flower
Name of Maker: Kristen Murphy
Star/Flower - I hand appliqued the flower(that turned out to look like a star)block, when I worked the front desk of an inn during the quiet evening hours of my shift. This quilt is meaningful to me because I had a crush on the maintenance guy who's parents ran the place and now how many years later we are married! This one is not completed yet.
London Lawns
Name of Maker: Kristen Murphy
London Lawns - I was inspired by a quilt I saw in Mary Mashuta's "Cotton Candy Quilts" and thought it would be perfect for these London Lawns I purchased on ebay a few years back. I know its simple but I just love these prints and didn't want to cut them up too much, this is my second "hand quilting" project
Vanity Square
Name of Maker: Kristen Murphy
Vanity Square - I bought the pattern and most fabrics from "Two Thimbles Quilt Shop" while visiting my mom in Washington last year, it was very fun to work with some different colors, I just got this one back from my mom (my personal long arm quilter) at Thanksgiving 2008 she did a fabulous job on it (I am sooo lucky!)
My Grandma's Flowers
Name of Maker: Kristen Murphy
My Grandma's Flowers - This is a combination of my 30's collection but mostly of my Grandmothers that I inherited after she passed away. All of the flower applique blocks were hand appliqued on vacation trips, mostly in an airport and on the plane, I had my mom applique a couple of them too! It hangs on my sewing room door so I stare at it when I sew! That's Grandma's flowers!
Blue Feathered Cross Medallion
Name of Maker: Kristen Murphy
Blue Feathered Cross Medallion - First wall hanging quilt I made and it hangs in my sewing room and I love it!
My Blue Bren Bren
Name of Maker: Kristen Murphy
My Blue Bren Bren - I made two of these, one for myself and my best friend from high school (Bren Bren, short for Brenda) who was diagnosed with cancer. My mother machine quilted both of them for me and included our names and "Best Friends Forever" in the quilting on both of them. Blue was both our favorite color, at least in high school.
For Elizabeth
Name of Maker: Michele Dawson
For Elizabeth - A baby quilt I made for my niece's new baby. It was fun and the first one I quilted on my home sewing machine.
Samantha's Quilt
Name of Maker: Michele Dawson
Samantha's Quilt - I saw this pattern on Simply Quilts and really liked it, so I ordered the pattern from the company and saved it for a few years before I was brave enough to try it. I made it for our daughter's 16th birthday. Since my sewing room was in the living room at the time, it was a challenge to get it made "right under her nose". She never did know I was making it until it was given to her. I really had fun picking the fabric for this project and it is my favorite quilt that I have made.
Wren's Quilt
Name of Maker: Michele Dawson
Wren's Quilt - I wanted to make a baby quilt for a friend, and when I saw this pattern I knew I had to try it. It was a bit challenging, but I really learned a lot.
Roses
Name of Maker: Michele Dawson
Roses - I made this in a class I took when I first began to quilt again. It was very challenging and when it was finished I gave it to my stepmother.
Lone Star Quilt
Name of Maker: Karen Good
Lone Star Quilt - This is a Lone Star Quilt I made for a wedding gift to my husband's daughter in 2003. It was the very first time I stippled the quilt by machine and added an appliqued border of 1 Corinthians 13 along with the names and date of the wedding. they love it! This was a different way of making this kind of quilt from a pattern I'd purchased years ago that had the actual diamonds cut. This was made from strips cutting them in 45 degree angles to create the center star. The quilt came out excellent and the stippling was perfect!
