Not so Simply for Sarah
Name of Maker: Qlts2Slo
Not so Simply for Sarah - First in my "What was I THINKing series". Templates? Curved seams? "Y" seams? Pattern errata sheets? Didn't know about those when I made this quilt. I do now. Learned loads.
For My Sister's Cottage
Name of Maker: Qlts2Slo
For My Sister's Cottage - Block design and fabrics were primarily from a local shop hop kit of 30's reproduction fabrics. Quilting design imitates decorative painting my sister did on the wall of her cottage.
Tequila
Name of Maker: Qlts2Slo
Tequila - Technique was not difficult and the likeness is perfect. In memory of my Tequila who gave me loads of laughter and affection for 13 years. I miss you Tequi.
Who's That?
Name of Maker: Terry Knott
Who's That? - Inspired by the book, "Remember Me," I used thread painting, applique, trapunto, machine piecing and machine quilting to make it. It has wook and cotton batting. I quilted it with cotton, silk and monofilament thread. My first real attempt at thread painting and I loved it!
Pueblo Pottery Song
Name of Maker: Ann L. Petersen
Pueblo Pottery Song - Made from just 2 kinds of fabric - the dark teal, dark purple and silver are a silk/cotton sateen and the lighter teal and lavender are a polyester satin. This is as close to a wholecloth quilt as I seem to be able to make - somehow I just need to add piecing!. I have an anthropology background and have always loved the Ancestral Pueblo pottery designs. I drew up all the quilting based on pictures and drawings of pottery (some from Decorative Art of the Southwestern Indians by Dorothy Sides (Dover). Quilted on my Bernina.
Journey With a Resting Place
Name of Maker: Stephanie Pollard
Journey With a Resting Place - Born in RI, USA and have lived in Australia for 30 odd years now, had a family who needed to meet the large extended overseas family. Going back for a visit and being a new quilter I left a series of small quilts behind of an Aussie flavour.
Storm Over The Mountains
Name of Maker: Dana Lynch
Storm Over The Mountains - This is a framed picture quilt made as a gift after I went to La Veta for Retreat in 2008. I used one of my photos of the Spanish Peaks for the shaping of the mountains. I do love looking at these mountains. They take my breath away. I used a lot of thread painting and just kept layering until I got the look I wanted.
Jack and Jill for Jack
Name of Maker: Sarah Huie
Jack and Jill for Jack - Had to call Australia to get this great pattern by Cori Blunt to make for my first grandbaby whose named just happened to be Jack.
Chinese Coin
Name of Maker: Stephanie Finnell
Chinese Coin - This is a lap quilt I made for the Smith Cotton High School FBLA's door prize stash. It was not yet given away at the last event, being saved for another one.
Margy's Quilt
Name of Maker: Helen Elice
Margy's Quilt - This was made whilst doing a workshop with Carolyn Price in Australia. The blocks that make up the background are created by stacking 6 to 8 fabrics and freehand cutting a curved line through from just off the diagonal. Then the fabrics are shifted in the stack, sewned back together and the process repeated. Then the squares are cut to same size and pieced on point. Applique with heavy machine embrodiery. Lilly pads created using netting and freehand machining. I made this quilt to present to my younger sister for her 50th birthday.
Focal Point: A Geometric Stained Glass Window
Name of Maker: Sylvain Bergeron
Focal Point: A Geometric Stained Glass Window - Inspired by stained glass windows and simple geometry, four waves of colors originate in the corners and wash over each other. A fifth wave of color originates from a single dot in the center and runs over the entire quilt. The resulting design is of ever changing color according to the light and angle of vision. Seen from any of the corners, the quilt appears almost monochromatic. When seen from a moving perspective (as in walking), the colors ebb and flow across the surface in an ever changing image (the original image was created as an integral design spanning the entire surface of the quilt, then subdivided in to squares while removing the equivalent of the sashing pieces). This piece demonstrates how embroidery can be used to create the whole design of a quilt, with conventional piecing and sashing for assembly.

Just Feeling a Little Blue
Name of Maker: Mslibra
Just Feeling a Little Blue - My Guild, Timberland Quilter's Guild, 2010 Paint Chip Challenge. I received a blue paint chip and decided to play off the word "blue". I took a picture of my hand, copied it onto the fabric and coloured it with water soluble pencil crayons. The hand is trapunto'd and I did a variety of background fills around it including a large 'pebble' under one finger that I painted blue. A sleeve from a thrift store shirt finished off the wrist area and the project was complete for a total cost of $3!

Jackies Quilt - My eldest Daughter wanted a quilt in purples - after a lot of searching we found these beautiful colours at Village Fabrics in Wallingford Oxfordshire UK. It is on her bed and is used all the time and looks so good there.

Haley & Matt's Wedding Quilt
Name of Maker: Judy Rittmeyer
Haley & Matt's Wedding Quilt - I purchased a "Bali Pop" at the Maine Quilt Show this August to make a wedding gift quilt for Haley and Matt. The bride loves green and as you can see there's lots of green in this quilt. I found this pattern on the Internet and I now can't seem to find it. I'll keep looking and if anyone just has to have it send me a message and I'll look harder.

Name of Maker: Maryjo Kaszubinski
Grandma's luv - This is a snuggle quilt made for my granddaughter's HS graduation. I hope she enjoys it on many long nights of studying at Georgia Tech.
