Storm at sea - This quilt is for my son Ryan, he loves everything about the water. So I chose batik fabrics in the warm Caribbean colors for this quilt. I quit counting pieces for this quilt at 4000. He Loves it and uses it all the time.

Cowboy - Custom made for this little cowboy, using plaid fabrics around the wonky squares of western fussy cut prints. The rope around the border is made from fleece and i machine appliqued on.

Free Form Hearts - This is a modified 9 patch set on point using 4 coordinating fabrics. The free form hearts are my own design and machine appliqued on.

Tree of Hands - This quilt was made by using a light box to copy the hands of kindergartner's and the machine appliqueing them to the backing fabric. The tree trunk is pieced and then appliqued. The quilt was made to auction for the school's annual gala fundraiser. I'm happy to say it raised $2500.00 for the school. The heart on the tree trunk is the school logo. The hands at the bottom are the teachers.

Four Patch Duo - This quilt uses only 2 colors but is very striking. I has been quilted by stitching in the ditch.

A New Star - I combined 2 quilt block to make this quilt using a star sashing block and a twisted ribbon block. I machine embroidered the words.

Lady Bug Lattice - I used Jackie Robinson fabric and pattern for the split strip lattice. The lady bugs are Machine embroidered. She uses it all the time.

Kevin's Circles - I made this quilt for my son Kevin, using all Robert Kaufman Stonehenge fabrics. He wraps himself in my Love every night. I added the curved border for more interest.

Joy In My Heart - I blanket stitched by machine with a stitch width and length of about 2.5mm. This piece features WonderFil Spagetti 12wt (heavy) cotton thread in several bright colors. It was used for applique, for outline quilting, for background quilting, and for prairie point embellishment. Of course, I included piping in the binding and wacky silhouette.

Double-pointed Dresden Quarters - This contemporary spin on a traditional favorite is easier by eliminating the need for an applique center. Dresden points are 3D and both ends of each wedge is pointed! As another twist, I simply basted the Dresden units in place until the quilt is layered, then stitched in place during quilting. I quilted in the ditch between blades, flipped up a point, travelled to the next ditch, and so on. It worked beautifully!

Tredegar House - At the end of a workshop I had 8 green blocks that I did not greatly care for due to lack of value but saw a possibility of using them by adding appliqué. The centre block was constructed because I felt I needed 9 blocks and I did not have enough greens left to make one more block. I decided to treat this as a appliqué sampler and I ended trying out 11 different ways of creating edge turned appliqué to figure out what I liked and didn't like. TQS shows were a great help to identify different techniques. I now know without doubt what to do next time! I also tried out several sashiko style background quilting patterns.

Off the Map - 5 large Jacob's Ladder blocks used to simulate areas of a map. DD did not want a traditional quilt so these mini quilts ended up being HER quilt. They are quilted using some of the decorative stitches on my machine I never thought I would use like a little duck. It swims very happily in a "lake" and the parasol indicates a picnic area. I had great fun making these

Dans le Jardin - Made as a Thank You present for a vet who went well beyond the call of duty on several occasions

Can I go and play too? - We had a lot of cats visiting our garden and our dog badly wanted to go and play so he would get on his hind legs and look out of the window then look at me with pleading eyes. By the time he got downstairs and out all the cats had scattered so there was no one to play with. I made this and another similar as a memorial quilt to him. It helped me get to terms with my loss. I drew cat silhouettes and the silhouette of my dog from photos, digitised the cats and ME on top of pieced blocks. The dog silhouette was too big for my hoop so it is appliquéed. I digitised paw prints and quilted it in the hoop with the embroidery unit.

Hanne's Quilt - Quilt made for DD2 when she needed extra warmth in a particularly cold flat. I had just made a split-9-patch quilt so thought I would try splitting another block. It was fun to work with really large blocks

Hommage to Hundertwasser and Vasarely - A chance encounter with some Op-Art brooches made by my mother in the 60ties when tidying a box after she died at the same time as I was looking into Hundertwasser's architecture prompted by some of my father's photographs and also doing a workshop on curved piecing led me to make these wall quilts/panels that subsequently was hanging in different constellations in our hallway when we lived in a big townhouse.

Conversation Piece - This wall hanging came about because of a mobile phone conversation I overheard on the train. For more than one hour the rest of the carriage was "entertained" so giving up on my book I started for fun to jot down "the other half" of the conversation. This jotting is the basis for the quilting. I imagined the 2 women were very different hence the complimentary colours of the fabric
