Bouquets for a New Day (BOM 2008)
Name of Maker: Enice Burke
Bouquets for a New Day (BOM 2008) - I loved making this pretty BOM.. Susan Garman did a wonderful job making the pattern. I had the top made for about a year before I finally put ribbon on the border. Just could not make up my mind. Becky Harness did a great job quilting. That always sets everything off just right. I love doing applique, so this was a joy. Started in 2008 quilted Dec 2011.

My First Year
Name of Maker: Vonna
My First Year - I made this quilt for my daughter-in-law to celebrate her first year as an elementary teacher. Her students each colored a block for it and so did she. I wanted her to remember her first year and the kids she taught. They had fun and it turned out perfect - after all aren't all kids perfect?

perfectly imperfect - i wanted this anniversary gift for my daughter and son-in-law to stand on it's own, and i wanted the batiks to stand out. the jewel-like colors are brilliant and the designs with-in each color are mesmerizing. red piping was added between the turquoise and the outer border of blocks. this is a king size quilt with quilting every 1/4", consequently it is quite heavy.

For the Birds - The body of this quilt came from a "Sweet Treat" (fat quarter bundle) of cute cat and bird fabrics. I love the whimsical prints so much -- including one that looks suspiciously like bird droppings! -- that I decided to keep it for myself.

Prismatic Flower With Attitude
Name of Maker: LeAnn Harner
Prismatic Flower With Attitude - After seeing Wild Child on TQS, I took the Prismatic Flower class from Barbara Olson in the fall, 2007 and used her blossom design for this project. The leaves and stem were designed using her Wild Child technique. I appliqued the blossom, middle leaf and stem to the background; then cut out the background underneath and added batting under those parts, as well as the narrow border. I thread painted over those parts, then added another layer of batting, the backing and quilted. The background is all painted fabric. The two outer leaves were wrapped around Timtex (and are firmly attached under the blossom, then there's a few stitches towards the tip, so they are really 3-D.

English Gardens
Name of Maker: Sherry and Arlene
English Gardens - This quilt pattern was given away free at Jo Ann Fabrics in 2002 to go along with a coordinated series of fabrics used in the quilt. It was my first quilt and my sister, who had quilted for many years, did not tell me that it was not a beginner project. I did all the cutting and piecing and had help from my sister on sashing, borders and binding. I'm glad I didn't know when I decided to make the quilt, that it was going to be very difficult because I love the quilt and I'm so happy to have it. This pattern did not include any rotary cutting or strip piecing, just templates. I developed a few short cuts of my own, using ideas I'd seen on Simply Quilts.

Froggy Quilt
Name of Maker: sewmanyquilts
Froggy Quilt - This was the first quilt I ever finished. I designed it for a child. My theme fabric on the back had comical frogs. I used square on a square blocks, with contrasting colors. I used embroidery to create a frog, his name, 123, ABC, and to label each pedal in a 3 dimensional flower I created - each pedal has the color of the pedal embroidered on the reverse side. I included his photo in one of the blocks, and I made a small frog toy attached to the quilt. The quilting was simple stitch in the ditch.

1930 Reproduction Quilt
Name of Maker: sewmanyquilts
1930 Reproduction Quilt - This is a quilt that reminds me of the quilts my Grandmother made. I saw one similiar in a magazine, enough inspiration to get me started. The center is a 2 inch block made with multiple prints/colors of 1930 reproduction fabric on point. The border surrounding the center is white with pink/white triangles used to create the look of prairie points. The corners are created using the 1930 reproduction blocks. The outer border is pink and white scalloped stripe. I has appliqued flowers and leaves in the white border.
Dreams are...

Dreams are... - Used my scraps and Eleanor Burns wonderful flying geese tool and created this quilt for a shelter in San Francisco. On the label, I included the following quote: "Dreams are ... illustrations from the book your soul is writing about." (M. Norman) The shelter's Director sent a very gracious thank you card and ended it with "...we will be sure to get them to those for whom they will deeply comfort."
