Angels
Name of Maker: Pat DuBois
Angels - I needed to come up with a design for a Christmas challenge for our guild Christmas Party. I found these old angel patterns and made them out of boiled wool. I also had an old embroidery pattern for a tree. I made the ornaments from tiny pieces of wool. I cut off the corners and added Susan Cleveland's piping hot binding and then added a checkerboard strip on the top and bottom. I was really pleased with the way it turned out
Tulips From the Past
Name of Maker: Pat DuBois
Tulips From the Past - I saw the finished quilt in a vendor booth at the Minnesota Quilt Show in 2008. I fell in love with the colors and the fact that it was all done in cozy flannel. I bought a kit so I can't take any credit for choosing the beautiful colors. I machine quilted this on my Gammill. I'm new at long arm quilting and I was pleased that it turned out as well as it did.
Miss American Beauty Rose
Name of Maker: Pat DuBois
Miss American Beauty Rose - There are a number of patterns in this flower lady series, I really enjoyed making this "rose".
Busy!
Name of Maker: Lori
Busy! - Strips and Curves book by Louisa Smith. I really liked the idea of strata and playing with LOTS of fabrics. This was my very first attempt at machine quilting as well-it is terrible!! Ha ha! I like the quilt, though. For me-it's all about colors.
Walking in a Winter Wonderland
Name of Maker: Pat DuBois
Walking in a Winter Wonderland - This is a "redwork" pattern that I did in blue. I used a variety of off-white and cream backgrounds and chose a variety of blue prints for the stars. I really enjoyed making this quilt and especially all the embroidery.
Pansies
Name of Maker: Lori
Pansies - Picked up the Convergence book by Ricky Tims and tried making a quilt. What fun!
Baby Cardinals
Name of Maker: Pat DuBois
Baby Cardinals - I got a sample greeting card in the mail and fell in love with the picture of the baby cardinals. I enlarged it on the copy machine and made a pattern. I machine appliqued it and added some embroidery for the legs and around the beaks. I also added a couple small doll buttons.

Iris
Name of Maker: Lori
Iris - I wanted to try fused, raw edge applique and also machine quilting. This is more of a *sampler* as i experimented with various techniques. (threads, fabrics, stitches, fusing material etc). I am happy with the end result - and surprised that it went as well as it did!
Nesting 2
Name of Maker: Denise Buchwalter-Losczyk
Nesting 2 - This is the second quilt in my Nesting quilt series. I wanted to make a second quilt using a different colorway, and different fabrics. The design changed a bit, as I worked on it in EQ6. I added baskets in the corners, and nest blocks, with little appliqued eggs, and included hand embroidery (seed stitches), and some small glass seed beads. This quilt celebrates new life and beauty of creation. I have been drawn to paisley shapes lately, and have used them in 2 quilts now. After researching a bit about "paisley" designs, I found they are based on a "bota" design which is a symbol of life and fertility. I quilted the quilt using my built-in Pfaff IDT walking foot. This quilt has been exhibited at the Machine Quilter's Exposition, April 13-18, 2009, (Quilt show is April 16-18), at the Knoxville, TN AQS Show, July 22-25, 2009 and at the 2009 Pacific International Quilt Show, October 15-18, 2009. It was exhibited this year at the 2010 AQS Lancaster, PA Show, March 24-27 2010, and will be exhibited at the Denver National Quilt Festival, April 29 - May 2, 2010.
Nesting
Name of Maker: Denise Buchwalter-Losczyk
Nesting - This quilt is based on a drawing from my sketchbook of "nesting embryo shapes". I used EQ6 to design the quilt. It was originally made for the Benartex Piece, Love and Quilts Challenge, and was a finalist in the contest. (It incorporates fabrics from the Benartex Woodstock and City Girl collections) It has also been shown at the 2008 Pacific International Quilt show, and will be exhibited at the 2009 Quilter's Heritage Celebration in Lancaster, PA, April 2-5. I gave a photograph of my quilt to my doctor's office, and they displayed it in their examining room, and it has brightened many a patient's visit.
North Carolina Forests Under Fire II
Name of Maker: jennyinnc
North Carolina Forests Under Fire II - This is the second of two North Carolina Forest Fire quilts I made depicting the horrible forest fires North Carolina experiences during fire season. This is of the mountains with its hardwood trees. I hand painted the background and some of the "ghostly" trees. It is heavily threadpainted using a variety of threads. This quilt was juried into the last exhibition of Karey Bresenhan's Journal Quilt projects with the theme of Elements and this one obviously represents the element of fire. It was on exhibit at IQF in Houston 2008 and will travel with the exhibit to IQF Chicage and then IQF Long Beach before returning home to me in the fall of 2009.
Ethereal Moth
Name of Maker: jennyinnc
Ethereal Moth - This moth was a photograph printed on fabric printer sheet and fused to a heavy interfacing. It is heavily threadpainted with free motion embroidery.
Warhol Pugs
Name of Maker: jennyinnc
Warhol Pugs - This was made for a coworker who has an older Pug. I played with the picture in PhotoShop - desaturated it, then posterized it, then adjusted the hues to get the Warhol-like colors. The four portraits were placed and sized in Adobe InDesign and printed on fabric printer paper and fused to batting. Two thread colors, a light and dark, were used to threadpaint each portrait. I fused the black "borders" and then the backing was added and pillow-cased turned. The piece was then hand-stitched to a painted stretched canvas.
