Design Source - Description | This is the second of two North Carolina Forest Fire quilts I made depicting the horrible forest fires North Carolina experiences during fire season. This is of the mountains with its hardwood trees. I hand painted the background and some of the "ghostly" trees. It is heavily threadpainted using a variety of threads. This quilt was juried into the last exhibition of Karey Bresenhan's Journal Quilt projects with the theme of Elements and this one obviously represents the element of fire. It was on exhibit at IQF in Houston 2008 and will travel with the exhibit to IQF Chicage and then IQF Long Beach before returning home to me in the fall of 2009. |
