Ride Boldly Ride
Name of Maker: dianedidit
Ride Boldly Ride - Whole cloth (poly/cotton knit) with cotton borders, binding and backing. A quilter wouldn't normally choose to use a knit, but the piece just said "mountains" to me, so I used it. I made the actual mountains with organza, painted and heavily free motion quilted - with liquid beads sprinkled across them as snow. The "sky" is free motion quilted in silver metallic thread. The road is painted corduroy. The tree line is fiber and the large tree is painted peltex heavily quilted and embellished with fiber branches.

Perspective
Name of Maker: dianedidit
Perspective - Materials/Techniques: I was at a retreat and somebody had brought a bag of pre-fused scraps. I had some handmade paper with me and wanted to see if the texture would come through fused fabric. It didn’t. SO, I was left with this pretty 8.5”x11” sheet of fused fabric scraps. I was reading “Creative Quilting: The Journal Quilt Project” and saw a piece where somebody did reverse appliqué and I liked how the color of the background fabric came through. However, instead of fabric for my top layer, I used (Lumiere paints) Peltex, on which I traced and then cut out a pattern from a photo of a circular staircase. Quilted with mono filament on top (gold poly on back), bordered and backed with a commercial solid, bound with commercial batik.
