Old Italian Block Quilt (detail)
Name of Maker: Anita Grossman Solomon
Old Italian Block Quilt (detail) - A detail of quilt. I included unifying Japanese indigo fabrics throughout. Because of the cutting technique used many backgrounds appear to be fussy cut, but they aren't.

Winter Night
Name of Maker: Mary Valaika
Winter Night - This is a 100% wool quilt made from wool garments purchased at the Goodwill stores. I did buy wool yardage for the borders. This is a gift for my husband: because he asked for a wool quilt. Backing and binding will be a black flannel with a narrow red pinstripe running through it. I will quilt it with a large crosshatch and make a medallion design in the center 4 patch areas surrounded by the gray pieces. Red border will have the same medallion design - maybe a sunburst - and final black border will be a 1" crosshatch.

Seahorse Serendipity - I started this quilt at a two-day workshop in Maine with the fiber artist, Susan Carlson. For the applique, the fabric pieces were glued in place. Geese in My Garden
Name of Maker: Chip Styles
Geese in My Garden - Eleanor Burns published this pattern in a quilting magazine & was designed for a single bed. I amended the pattern to be queen-size. The fabrics are 30's reproduction fabrics on white. Floral rows are hand appliqued & the flying geese are machine pieced. The quilt is machine quilted on my Elna Quilters Dream with a swirly pattern quilted in the white areas around the geese & flowers and curving feather in the border. The picture does not show the finished edge which is scalloped and bound by the same green in the stems & leaves. The quilt was given to my nephew & his wife in celebration of their marriage prior to Chad leaving for Afganistan- thankfully he is now safely home.

Wedding Whisperings
Name of Maker: Patti Perkins
Wedding Whisperings - The middle section and carpenter wheel aroound it is from the book. I emailed Jan Krentz for suggestions on how to enlarge it to Queen size and she played on the computer and sent me the picture of this. I had figure out how to draft it and I think every seam went in 3 times. I named it Wedding Whisperings because the fabric used is Alex's Whisperings line which started it all. I loved that fabric line and when Jan's book came out at the same time w/this on the cover with similar colorings it really caught my eye.

Ramblin Rose Meets Jamestown
Name of Maker: quiltendeb
Ramblin Rose Meets Jamestown - This was a BOM purchased in 2007 from Keepsake Quilting. I pieced the Sampler Blocks in 2007 and the Log Cabin Blocks in 2008. In 2009 I saw the Cotton Theory Method being used and decided to make my blocks into the quilt Log Cabin Shuffle using Betty Cottons Method of Machine quilting. Each block was quilted separately and then assembled the quilt using Connector Strips. Each Block has a different fabric on the back of the quilt. I varied her pattern slightly (mainly on the back of the quilt) and only put 2 borders on instead of 3. I presented the quilt to my daughter and son in law for their 8th wedding anniversary on July 5th, 2011.
