Porticos of Mt Vernon
Name of Maker: Susan Smith
Porticos of Mt Vernon - Made a pattern from a photo I took in Mt Vernon in 1985. Pieced, appliqued and fabric I painted for parts of the background. Accepted for exhibition in the Tactile Architecture 2010 exhibition at the Houston International Quilt Festival
Baby Madison's quilt
Name of Maker: Susan McFarland
Baby Madison's quilt - I made this baby quilt from a kit purchased at my LQS (with the pattern included). For the life of me I don't know where I put the pattern, but will update with the name asap. It was really fun to make out of a package of charm squares. I quilted a different motif in each square and hearts in the border. Posting a sample of quilting in my personal photos.
Madison's Multigenerational quilt
Name of Maker: Susan McFarland
Madison's Multigenerational quilt - Madison's paternal great-grandmother (now deceased) made the blocks for this quilt in the 1960's or 70's. I was fortunate to find her UFO's before she got rid of them. I added the sashing and border and quilting. I've made quilts for each of her now 3 great grandchildren from the blocks. (I'm their maternal great-aunt) It's a wonderful way for all of us to remember a much beloved woman, Mary Emma Stevens.
Cindy's Birthday Quilt the front
Name of Maker: HstnQuilter
Cindy's Birthday Quilt the front - Each teapot represents a facet of Cindy's life, she was born in Hawaii, FogHorn Leghorn is her favorite cartoon character, she went to Texas A&M, etc. She always joked that I sent subliminal messages in my quilts and so I sent many of them to her in this quilt. The back has tea cups with signatures and birthday wishes from her family and friends.
Cindy's quilt back
Name of Maker: HstnQuilter
Cindy's quilt back - If you have teapots you need teacups! Family and friend sent birthday wishes.
Wedding Path
Name of Maker: HstnQuilter
Wedding Path - This quilt is a wedding quilt for Max and his bride Amanda. Since he is in law enforcement, the old joke of "black and white with a cherry on top" was on my mind when I started the quilt. This is the first quilt I designed entirely on EQ - great way to look at different colors, very easily. I had fun with the black and white fabrics since they have all sorts of things on them, chickens, vegetables, fish bones, paw prints, clocks...
Greg's Birthday Quilt
Name of Maker: Hstn Quilter
Greg's Birthday Quilt - This was a fun one to make. I had pictures from Greg's life, fabric that looked like baseball tickets (to commemorate all the baseball parks he's visited) and fabrics that are meaningful to his life. To get the Florida Gators fabric, I wrote to the University of Florida's bookstore to see what they had and got some silk boxer shorts to use! It was all done in secret and I was able to surprise him with it.
Meyers 25th Anniversary Quilt
Name of Maker: Hstn Quilter
Meyers 25th Anniversary Quilt - This was made as a surprise gift for my neighbor's parents as they celebrated their 25th anniverary. When I asked what colors to use - my neigbor said her mom was colorblind, so it didn't matter much. I came up with the idea of using photos on fabric to make a memory quilt - thinking my neighbor would give me maybe a dozen to work with, instead, I got a whole boxful to work with.... These were sent off to Soft Fabric Photos and they cropped, scanned and printed the pictures for me. Through a series of events, my quilt was the cover quilt of "Quilt It for Keepsakes" in early 2008.
Terri's Birthday Quilt
Name of Maker: Hstn Quilter
Terri's Birthday Quilt - T's in my friend Terri's favorite colors. Not my favorite colors, but I did have all these fabrics in my stash. This was the first quilt my friends saw - up to this poiint they knew I quilted, but had never seen any of my work. The quilt was made with all my choices - Terri had no input into it at all. This has become a favorite thing for me to do, since my quilts tell my friends of my love for them.
Raquel's birthday quilt
Name of Maker: Angela Kollet
Raquel's birthday quilt - This is my fist quilt, small and simple for a little girl's birthday, a flannel rag quilt.
A Colorful Road
Name of Maker: Angela Kollet
A Colorful Road - This is the first full size quilt I made, I had a jelly roll and added the white, because it was my first quilt I made the rows random widths and stripped solid borders in between, instead of getting frustrated with matching seams. I found a great tie dyed fabric that worked well with the colors for the border and backing fabric. I also made matching pillow shams and a bed skirt.

A Little Piece Of Home
Name of Maker: Angela Kollet
A Little Piece Of Home - I started with a fat quarter bundle of the Moda Migration fabric, purchased the This & That pattern, and added 2 additional rows to reach the desired size. I took all of the left over fabric from the bundle, and made the disappearing nine patch for the border. This is my favorite one so far.
Wedding Quilt
Name of Maker: Lori Platt
Wedding Quilt - I had some 9 patch blocks (Old), and an old silk shirt, several new fabrics, both blue and others...anyway - remembering the *something borrowed, something new, something blue...whatever...* don't remember the rhyme. My son (1st of 7 children to be wed!) recently got married, the new daughter in law loves yellow, the 9 patch represented my son's family of 9, the design placed the new couple in the *center* (red nine patch) of a radiating family... anyway, It is my attempt at a wedding quilt :-)
Peppers
Name of Maker: Lori Platt
Peppers - I wanted to try using a photo, printed on fabric, and our guild had a color challenge...so this quilt is the result. The photo was a terrific range of greens of many different peppers from my garden...my printer chose to print in very DIFFERENT shades-mostly Yellow! Well - it still looks fine. I also tried Mctavishing in the quilting (I was lucky enough to be able to attend a wonderful lecture given by Karen M.) and that was a success! I first tried freemotion quilting about 2 years ago - it was a disaster! I have since tried on and off...taken workshops, watched lots of videos, read many books...and with practice-I am finally seeing some improvement in my quilting! I'm very happy with the results.
Blowing Bubbles
Name of Maker: Alicea
Blowing Bubbles - This quilt made for very good friends, who on their 3rd try, finally had a boy! I had a lot of fun free-hand long-arm quilting this quilt, inspired by Patsy Thompson.
