Antique Green & White Cross-stitch & Pieced Quilt
Name of Maker: Unknown
Antique Green & White Cross-stitch & Pieced Quilt - This is the better of two quilts made in the same pattern! I have a b/w photo of these on double beds in my parents master bedroom. These were obviously hand made as there are matching "issues" in the pieced border of both. All cross stitch and embroidery were hand done with embroidery floss. The green appears to be the "40's green", but I am uncertain when these were made and by who. Unfortunately, anyone that I could ask has passed away. While I listed this as a traditional pattern, I am not sure as I haven't seen anything like these two. This one that is pictured is in the best condition with only a very small, light stain. Its twin has several small stains that are darker. Bindings show slight wear. Otherwise, both quilts are in tip top condition.
Antique Applique Bird Quilt
Name of Maker: Flora Belle Sheffield (Reese)
Antique Applique Bird Quilt - Made by Flora Belle Sheffield (m. Reese b. 2-21-14 d. 11-19-94) when she was nine years old (1923) and gifted to me. I slept under it for years as a child. This was found in a box at my late mother's home and it is in sad condition. A lot of the material is deteriorating and discolored, (I was hesitant to hang it to photograph it, but did) but I am unwilling to consign it to the trash bin yet. This quilt has a lot of personal meaning to me, as "Aunt" Flora raised me and treated me as if I were her own. In her own words, she didn't like the quilting and found it boring. (She would much rather be outside working or playing basketball) But she did like the embroidery work. There is a possibility that she made the two antique green & white quilts.

Free to Fly
Name of Maker: Jeannette Larson
Free to Fly - This was a "Baker's Dozen" block exchange with a subgroup of my Guild. We each make 13 blocks, keep one and exchange the rest. The challenge was for batik butterflies on an amish black background. I used King Tut variegated thread to handquilt, and while it doesn't show well in the photo, looks beautiful on the amish black fabric.
Our Flat Christmas Tree
Name of Maker: Jane Karhu Powers
Our Flat Christmas Tree - This, yet again, was in response to my husband. We recently moved into a new house that really did not have a good place for our Christmas Tree. So to answer my complaining of no where to put the tree; my husband said,"You'll just have to make a flat one and hang it on the wall." So, out came the EQ6 and "Our Flat Christmas Tree" was created. I started around Thanksgiving and it was not done for Christmas. Our Tree went in the foyer and "Our Flat Christmas Tree" was done in January. Next year it goes on the wall!
Iris Quilt
Name of Maker: Jane Karhu Powers
Iris Quilt - This was my first quilt I put together and hand quilted. I embroidered 12 cross stitched blocks and pieced it together to fit our queen sized bed. Quiet an undertaking for a first quilt. I did enjoy the process of making it fit the bed, but I soon found out this was not an easy task. The whole process took about 4 years. Embroidery to completion of binding.
