Design Source - Description | Made by Flora Belle Sheffield (m. Reese b. 2-21-14 d. 11-19-94) when she was nine years old (1923) and gifted to me. I slept under it for years as a child. This was found in a box at my late mother's home and it is in sad condition. A lot of the material is deteriorating and discolored, (I was hesitant to hang it to photograph it, but did) but I am unwilling to consign it to the trash bin yet. This quilt has a lot of personal meaning to me, as "Aunt" Flora raised me and treated me as if I were her own. In her own words, she didn't like the quilting and found it boring. (She would much rather be outside working or playing basketball) But she did like the embroidery work. There is a possibility that she made the two antique green & white quilts. |
