Lingering Images
Name of Maker: WEST1E
Lingering Images - After 3 days of watching TV I couldn't do it any more. I needed to do something so I went to my sewing room. The images wouldn't leave me so I made this quilt of the image I couldn't forget. It was finished in one week. Shortly after that there was a call for Sept 11 quilts to be in a special showing in Houston. I sent mine and had it auctioned to help support the familys. It is published by C&T Publishing by Karey Bresenhan titled; America:From the Heart on page 29
Believe
Name of Maker: group quilt
Believe - This is a Round Robin (RR) quilt. I needle turned the center block which is a Jeanna Kimball pattern. All the rest of the quilt is of original design. There were 6 of us in the RR. We won 3rd place at the MN quilt show and from that Quilters Newsletter asked us to send it to them for photography. Unfortunately, blocks from QNL the UPS truck caught fire and the quilt was badly burned. (see link) http://www.lostquilt.com/UPS_Fire.html

My First Christmas Quilt
Books:1; E-books:0
Name of Maker: Roberta
Books:1; E-books:0 - This quilt was made for an exhibit by quilters who work in libraries. The theme was simply "books". I wanted to do a pictorial quilt which would show antique books, and showcase a piece of gorgeous handmade marbled fabric (sorry, don't know who dyed it). I worked long and hard and made many versions of a somewhat elaborate still life with books and hated every version more and more. Suddenly, after many days of working, I simplified the idea and ended up with a quilt I was very happy with. The books are a single fabric, tucked and stuffed. The background of the quilt is quilted in a 1/4" crosshatch design. After quilting, the book section was stitched onto the quilt.
Flaming 9 Patch
Name of Maker: WEST1E
Flaming 9 Patch - I wanted a quilt that was 'Hot'... I think this did it!
Fall Table Runner
Name of Maker: Roberta
Fall Table Runner - This table runner was paper pieced in fall colors. I used my Gammill Long Arm machine to quilt it. I used a dense amount of quilting on the orange fabric, and left the prints unquilted to pop up. It has a very nice texture and the color is more vibrant than the picture shows.
Irish Chain Doll Quilt
Name of Maker: Kara
Irish Chain Doll Quilt - I used a bunch of pastel scraps to make this doll quilt for my daughter.
Solar Twist
Name of Maker: Kay Jones
Solar Twist - I used the pattern with fabrics I had on hand. My first attempt at free motion quilting.
Pelican
Name of Maker: Jan Billings
Pelican - Pelican based on art by friend, Beki Killorin (www.bekikillorin.com), who made the sketch of the bird for me. This was 6 years in the making, as I got frustrated and put it aside many times. My ideas were reluctant to come to fruition. It has 3D aspects, with the design of the flower (or sections of it, brought forward in butterflies, flowers, etc.
Hot Wheels for Haley
Name of Maker: Marilyn Altenbach
Hot Wheels for Haley - This quilt was a PROCESS of taking a huge mistake and creating a quilt that actually worked. Thinking that I was cutting the background fabric strips the correct size I zipped through 15 strips before I realized I was cutting the background fabric the size of the twist or focus of the block! I ended up reversing the block into a positive/negative set and came up with this twist. My granddaughter has a limited color pallet that also gave me this challenge to complete something that I think she will like. The pillowcases are an added bonus and really set it all off. Whew!! I can't get her sister's quilt done before Christmas so it's going to have to be set aside.
Thomas the Train
Name of Maker: Diana LaFaro
Thomas the Train - Made for grandson's third birthday.
