Design Source - Description | This quilt was made for an exhibit by quilters who work in libraries. The theme was simply "books". I wanted to do a pictorial quilt which would show antique books, and showcase a piece of gorgeous handmade marbled fabric (sorry, don't know who dyed it). I worked long and hard and made many versions of a somewhat elaborate still life with books and hated every version more and more. Suddenly, after many days of working, I simplified the idea and ended up with a quilt I was very happy with. The books are a single fabric, tucked and stuffed. The background of the quilt is quilted in a 1/4" crosshatch design. After quilting, the book section was stitched onto the quilt. |
