TOPIC: Posted July Block

01 Aug 2008 17:20 #23282

I just looked at several of the blocks and they are all so wonderful. This wonderful group of ladies who are doing this project are all so talented. I just love it. I'm working on August now. Congratulations to everyone on the beautiful blocks.

Thanks for your nice comments. I'm glad July is over - I have had very bad allergies for several weeks and finally had to go to my doctor and ended up on prednisone. I only have a couple of days left so hope to able to enjoy my quilting again :)

I bought one of the EZ Glitzer's and I haven't used it yet but I sure have found lots of places on these blocks to add some glitter! I have been enjoying all of the posted blocks. Everyone has been doing such a great job and they are all so colorful. Keep up the good work.

August looks pretty easy so hope to get started soon.

Thanks.

Florence, great block! It looks like a English country garden. I could feel the warm sunshine, the gentle breeze, the sound of birds chirping merrily, the buzz of the mosquito....SLAP! okay, back to reality!!!

Sandy, great block! I love the butterfly fabric for the vase! Can't wait to see your embellishments!

Finally got my block done and posted. I was going to add both August & July next month but decided to add it while it was still "July"! :D

I plan to add some beads or crystals for the tiny berries after quilting.

Just want to let ya'll know that I DID in fact get July block done in July!! I've been done since last Sunday but only just got it on the camera & computer... Good thing I had lots of extra time on this one b/c it sure needed it! My tiny berries are far from round, but they're there & that's that! Wish I had time to catch up & see all the rest that have been posted, maybe August will be good for that!
Still w/you in spirit even when I'm off the board for days at a time,
Piece, Florence

Judy, Looks great on so many different levels. Love the vase fabric! Are those yo-yo's, or just fussy cut, for the larger berries? And what about those teeny berries? Oh the questions this inquiring mind has so early in the morning!

Maggie in E. Central Illinois, who is back tracking a little bit today and doing the June block (tulips) to use as the center of the shop hop quilt I'm making that is using "Tulip Time" fabric from the Heaven Can Wait series from Northcott. (do you think I could have made a longer sentence?)

For my tiny berries I used a floral fabric with a yellow and black center needle turned. The same floral fabric had gold flowers, I used those for the larger berries needle turned. I drew a circle around the design and then cut a scant 1/4 inch. All my circles aren't perfectly round, but I enjoy this process more than the one using starch, template and iron.
