Declare it as a gift and since one fq is about £2-3 in UK it is well under the VAT band.

Tomorrow I am going digging in my stash for 12 fq (or fq equivalents), will number & photo them and post them up. Then you can all shout and say which pile you fancy, and I will then post that in exchange for something out of your stash. How does that sound?

I send postcards regularly and they're around £1.50 each so probably double that. No problem if sending one but if it's 12 it's quite a lot.

Perhaps declare as fabric scraps

OK. Me too. But I am not sure I know what I've agreed to. We exchange addresses through PM? Then exchange a FQ with that person? How do we avoid having our across the pond friends pay duty on this fabric? Does anyone know what it costs to send a Fat Quarter across the pond?

After a busy week, I have so enjoyed the stories and quilting room tours. Always fun to see where others create.

My sewing space is in our basement so the light is not the best but it is warm in the winter and cool in the summer so it works perfect for me. I share the space with our exercise equipment and the desk and filing cabinet.

So I make it that there are about a dozen of us on this stash raid trip so far
Lorna
Wendy
Rita
Nancy
Marilyn
Renata
Sharon
Lois
Geneva
Terrie (I've included Terrie, even though she hasn't turned up much recently, but I am sure that she would like to join in)
Me.
?

How about we all go and raid our stashes and find a dozen uncut fq's (or if cut, maybe 2 f1/8ths) and send them to each other for a valentines present? Rules: You are not allowed to buy anything!

Sharon, it was fatal to mention that you were not that far from Nancy - forget the oysters, we will call in to raid your stash too!

Sounds like it is going to be fun. I'll bring the tea.

Actually I am now deep in though for afternoon tea parties, as that is what Izzy wants for her birthday - a Mad Hatter's teaparty and to really make it mad I had the idea of making useable quilted teacups & saucers (I blame Limbania, for putting up a post about them last year) So now I have to try and make it work! :silly:
