Debbie and Clara,

I’m preparing my HSTs for mailing today. I counted my HST twice before I started dividing them up for each of the exchanges and special groups. When I was done I recalculated my piles and found I was 8 short. I can’t imagine the frenzy of counting each of you will manage on SORTING DAY. I’m sending along 15 extra HSTs in a separate baggie to help in the final count. In the end I wouldn’t mind if you just grabbed a handful of HSTs and put them into a bag to send back to me and call it good. I get to participate in this wonderful exchange because of your work. Whatever I get back will be treasured. Thank you from the bottom of my HST piles.

Thanks for including the extras, Susan. Any extras that we wind up with after all is said and done will be included in the packages to Queensland and Hanne. Hopefully everyone counted correctly and everything will work perfectly 8) when it comes to distributing. Clara promises that she's going to keep the frenzy :D to a minimum, so everyone's HSTs shoudl be good in her capable hands.

I ordered the Tyvek envelopes Feb. 3rd and have not yet received them. I ordered botht the Express envelopes and the Priority envelopes and got a notification on Feb. 9th that the Express envelopes were on their way. Still waiting! So, if you haven't already sent your HSTs off, I would recommend going ahead and ordering those envelopes as you will be waiting on them.

The Tyvek envelopes are good, but you can use any kind of sturdy envelope if you don't want to wait. You wouldn't believe the assortment of envelopes that I've received, including bubble, cardboard, Priority, Flat Rate, etc., etc., etc.!

If you can, it would also be a good idea to tape your envelope shut instead of relying on the 'sticky' that comes on some of them. One came in yesterday that had only a brad to close it and no 'sticky' substance or tape at all. Fortunately it didn't open up and lose the contents before it was delivered.

I can imagine the excitement when a new shipment comes. I did a swap for the Carol Doak Group and it was hearts. Oh how much fun it was. My living room floor was covered in crazy hearts, what a site. I can not even imagine what your floorS will look like for the swap :-)
Are you kidding? There is no way she can let loose all those HSTs. Her whole floor will turn into a triangle quick sand and she will be swallowed up!!! Must contain the triangles.

Can you imagine what the post office is thinking? Batches of 20 and sometimes 50 coming in. Huge batch of 615 going out!!! Woof. Man I would hate to be in line behind Debbie. Debbie, thank you for doing this part of the job. I really appreciate it. A LOT! Clara :D :D :D

Sending them back should not require Debbie to stand in line since the envelopes are already stamped (except for the international ones). But can you just see the look on the postal worker's face when she starts to 'wheel' them in. At least I hope she will have something with wheels. I do wish I were closer so I could help sort... more pictures please, I just can't think of how all of this must look in her room(s?).

Shipping Note to my fellow quilters.

We are going to be planning the sort soon after the due date. If you are one of our international quilters especially in Australia and New Zealand try and get your packages into the mail system by the middle of March. Australia seems to be taking anywhere from 2-3 weeks and Europe about 1-2 weeks. We are still looking at a good month away for most of us to get done what we need to do.

Thanks. Clara :D :D :D

If any of you have your HST's read to go, it would be cool 8) to go ahead and get them in the mail whenever you can. I picked up 50  packages on Monday (the people at the P.O. Service said I should have driven my SEMI that day) and then 20 more yesterday and today. Since it takes a while to open the packages, put the HSTs and return envelope into a large Ziplock bag (numbered with your count & your name/screen name) and record them on my spreadsheet, I have absolutely no problem with you sending them as soon as they're ready.

It is taking a while for the packages to get here from Australia. On Feb. 4, I received my first notification that a package had been mailed from New Zealand . Today is the 16th and it hasn't arrived yet...but hopefully soon!

We're almost at the 50K mark in receiving HSTs...49,076 in 138 packages...and we're not even 1/3 of the way there! Thanks for your generosity in including HSTs for Queensland and Norway, too. That 'stash' is starting to grow and I know that Louise and Hanne-Grete will really appreciate them :D

Bummer for me  :( ...since the HSTs are still folded, I can't see what most of the fabrics look like, but I can see there is a huge variety of prints, colors, and batiks. What's really fun  is that I CAN get a 'sneak peek' at one side of some of the batiks since they're double sided...and they are looking luscious!

Debbie

Just have to tell you all that Edyta was our speaker at guild last night and I took a workshop from her today and absolutely had a blast and wish I could also take tomorrow's workshop, but alas have to work. She is as delightful in person as she is on The Quilt Show. I learned a ton and feel inspired to try some different things.

Dear Roseanne & SoTT’s;

Roseanne, loved the Dancing Queen Video! That is the first time I have seen it as I have never seen the movie. Boy, I would love to do that dance with a bunch of quilters in Europe somewhere! Go sorters! Wish I could be there to help! Hopefully I will be done with my HST’s next week & will get them mailed as soon as I am done ! Meanwhile I am day dreaming about all the different possible designs I might do when I get all the HST’s back. I’ll be excited to see everyone’s different quilts!
