just go straight for the upper right corner and click on the "view posts since last visit" button.

I had not noticed that. I tried it and it helps!! thanks.

starting a new topic 21 Apr 2008 22:18 #17243

If you want to start a new topic under a current major category--- just click on start new topic when you go into the main category give your topic a name and post your entry just like you would for a reply then it will show up as a new topic line. If you want to start a new major category go to suggest a new topic and do the same thing.

For a long time I thought there were too many categories and too many topics underneath them but I guess that doesn't bother me as much any more. I know that there are topics that are of particular interest to me and if I have limited time I read them first and then come back to the others later on when I have more time to read everything.

The forum is getting used again so maybe in another day or so you won't have to listen to me because I will be too busy reading to post many answers. LOL

Ann (that is four entries for today so will call it quits for tonight)

I just go straight for the upper right corner and click on the "view posts since last visit" button. I have no idea how to start a new topic, but haven't really felt the need so far.

I like the forums and check in several times a week to see the various topics. I much prefer the forum over the mail-list. And,sometimes I just like to "talk" too.

One thing I wonder...... In an effort to make all the users happy, I wonder if there are too many forums from which to choose. Maybe a consolidation of topics would help people find their way. Believe it or not, sometimes I have something to say -- yes, it's quilt related-- and it didn't fit one of the topic areas. On a busy day, it's just too hard to check all the different threads.

I love the Forum, too. I enjoy it for all the information everyone so generously supplies and for friendships and my BOM quilting bee that so many of us are apart of. It's fun to "talk" to quilters all over the world, too! :D Judy in Torrance

I love the forum, too, and the member blogs and the daily blog and I guess everything about TQS :D Even while I am traveling, I try to check in and read everything - at least every couple of days - or I start going through withdrawal. However, I am usually hurrying so don't take time to post. When I am home, I check 4 or 5 times a day LOL

Ann, I love the forum and reply when I feel lead to, sometimes too much! lol I went through withdrawal when the forum was down, didn't realize how much I enjoy it until I didn't have it! Thanks WebGuru Bob for getting us back up and running!

I've been busy piecing a quilt for my DS's girlfriend who is graduating next month, so there is some rush to it. I try to check the forum at least twice a day...when I get home from work and then before bed. Where does my time go to? No time for house work and really is beginning to show with the remodeling also going on!!! DH is really getting good at putting in tile!

Keep quilting,
WandaM

Are we having a forum stimulus incentive program going on here? I check in every day but sometimes I'm so pressed for time that I don't take the time to respond. I will try to jump in more often. Bad thing (good thing?), I'm going on vacation next week and will be out of internet contact. If you all are going to really post a lot, I may need another week's vacation to catch up. Love you all :!: Gloria

sorry 20 Apr 2008 12:39 #17118

Louise, I didn't mean to cast aspersions on anyone who doesn't post very often so am sorry you seem to have taken my message differently than I meant. I just missed seeing a lot of different things and was trying to lightheartedly prod some people to post (if for no other reason than to shut me up LOL ) so please take my message as I meant it - a light hearted way to get some interest going again. Sure didn't mean to start a controversy.

And Pat I haven't read far enough yet since church to count yours but will Thanks.

I am so glad that Doctor Bob has the forum up and running again. I was in serious withdrawal!

I've learned new things here, and have come to admire many folks who post with helpful suggestions and comments. Won't try to name them all, I'd be sure to leave someone out.

I seem to "drop in" at least 3 or 4 times throughout the day and evening.

Ann, I think this makes 4 posts for me today. :D

I guess each of us has a different view of the forum. For me, I like using the forum to get or share information about specific quilting topics or questions I might have. While I have posted a number of times, I've never felt the urge to post just for the sake of posting.

For others, the forum may be a way to make lots of new friends. It seems that many enjoy the daily give and take the forum provides. I think that's great, too.

The wonderful thing about this website is that we're free to use it in which ever way it makes sense for us -- informational, social or a combination of both. I don't think that not posting on the forum indicates any lack of support or enthusiasm for this remarkable website.

Forum use 20 Apr 2008 09:17 #17098

Never thought I would need this topic again because the forum has been busy and lots of new people entering things on it but we must be awful creatures of habit because with only a couple of days of the forum down ---- now I come to it and there is hardly anything there. (Thanks again DR. Bob -btw that is your new name from me now since you recovered the forum with so little amnesia - great job)

But gang we whined and moaned when the forum went down - OK I whined and moaned but some of you agreed with me - and now where are we all (including me) so I am setting myself a new goal for a couple of weeks to see if things pick up. I am going to do at least four forum entries a day as either replies to someone or starting a new thread in one of my favorite topics. So when you are all sick of me the way to get me to stop is to have so many entries I don't have time to read them all and do four responses or I get four responses in just replying to you.

SO HERE IS MY CHALLENGE TO ALL THE MEMBERS GET THE FORUM GOING SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO ME. (I even bore myself sometimes so you better respond or else)

Ann ( I must need a life but Its a NEW DAY in the forum lets use it again)
