TOPIC: Forum Use

Ok, I've run into my first "problem" with the forum... I LOVE and always use the "see posts since your last visit" feature, but then I had to be away for a whole WEEK... yes, I went thru internet withdrawal! So when I got back, I wanted to check in, but I was basically inundated with my "real life" and I knew I'd need a while to read a week's worth of posts... so I kept delaying, and delaying, until I had TWO weeks worth! (not to mention the video blogs which debuted in my absence, and catching up on the Rhapsody videos too!) Oh well, I've caught up on as much as I can right now, and just in time for a new show! So, if you thought I'd run off with another quilt site, not true! I'm back and loving every new enhancement! One of my "real life" issues that I had to take care of was finishing the binding on the wedding quilt, which I did, and presented on Thursday :D :D I've just posted the pic, last one on my profile, along with an updated picture of the scrappy quilt, all quilted, & given to my sis for her 50th birthday. Now on to the graduation quilt for NEXT June.

(edited b/c I got the quilt posted!)

I agree with Ruby and Dana. When the weather was in the 90's and it was too nice to be inside, I didn't post at all. Now that we're at 105 it's inside and air conditioning and forum time. I llove the forum.

Gloria, I had trouble with it, too. I started it 4 or 5 times before it played. You might just keep trying. Good luck!

I've had problems with our internet. Haven't even been able to watch episode 4. I'm having serious withdrawal symptoms. I have to wait for techy son to come and help.

I was thinking that same thing when I was working outside this morning Ruby, and then again when I was so hot this afternoon doing grocery shopping and errands. I think it was about 92 today....when it hits about 96, I'm inside for the Summer.... Dana

I'm outdoors in the yard this time of year, not spending as much time with my quilting or at my computer.

The same goes for me. It won't be long before it will be too hot and humid to be outside so maybe will get back into the daily routine.

I think everyone's just been busy -- I know that's my reason! :)

The forum has been strangely quiet the last few days. Is everyone busy, or just 'talked' out? :) :) :?:

I love having the Forum to go to almost every day. I have learned soooooooooo much from this site. It is a shame that more members are not participating. Maybe as time goes by they will feel like jumping in with their suggestions. It is so much easier to read certain catagories, rather than spend time going though a whole magazine.

I have been out of town a lot this month so have not been able to participate.
I have not belonged to many lists and right now I only subscribe to this one. I am still trying to get a grip on things. Maybe because this is a different format, people are having a hard time adjusting?

Hey Rose! I hadn't thought about the seasonal factor. Here in south Mississippi its way too nice outside to be in the house with my nose in the computer! 8)

Hello All! I look at the forum alot and have posted comments and questions. I've noticed that I see the same few names all the time. It's cool to be familiar with the folks I "see" all the time, but there are 17,000 plus members! How do we get more participation??
I am one that posts occasionally, but seem to post less in the summer than in the cooler months...maybe because I like to be outside plus have more to do outside. I too have wondered why there isn't more posting, but seems like on another forum or two that I belong to the posting has slowed down a lot and I got to thinking that it might just be because of the time of year.

I really like the forum and I read it everyday. For me it leaves a permanent record of the ideas, comments, problems, etc. that come flitting through my feeble brain. However, I thought when we made suggestions for categories and started topics that these topics would at some time become permanent topics and other topics that were not as popular would either be dropped or combined with similar topics that were also not too popular. Right now the page of suggested new topics is very long and it is difficult to remember what is there of interest so sometimes a new topic gets started which is almost like an old one. If it is possible to clean up the forum and get topics that are very similar to each other consolodated and to have fewer topics, I would like to see it done.

I think fewer topics and a clearer description of some of them would help new members not only get good information but also to encourage more people to read the forum. I have asked friends if they had read a cerstain item certain entry and the answer is often --I haven't had time to read the forum today --it takes too long

just a friendly suggestion - I will keep on reading and posting anyway but would like to see a broader cross section of the membership participate.

Keep up the good work gang for the most part everything that has happened so far has been positive so I am still a devoted member and fan and a convergence and chantelle addict --- ANN

For some strange reason, quilter's seem to prefer email groups over forums. I myself MUCH prefer forums, but most do not. I wonder if it's a comfort level thing?
