Your block is beautiful. How did you do the center?

I had issues as well. I cut all the pieces per the instructions using a scan n cut. And i had issues. What I did when i found a piece that did not fit properly, I used scraps from the cutting to cover.

Used my add a quarter ruler to get that perfect seam allowance. Made life easier just using 2 1/2 to 3 inch strips and the ruler perfect fits.

But my pieces do not line up perfectly. Thinking about making the block but will see

But what helpede the most old.hotel room key to fold the paper on and the add a quarter ruler.

Eileenkny - not sure which triangles you're referring to, but I did notice that sometimes it is the SIDES of the triangles that are positioned to cover the area. It can seem a bit confusing to set them this way, but a dry run by folding a quarter inch of fabric and placing it in position before stitching helps to troubleshoot whether the fit will be right or not.
The larger white triangles fit on the outside ends of units 17, 16, 15, 2, and 6.
I was careful to fold back the paper to trim the last sewn seam before trying to place the next triangle. Most critical of all is pinning the intersections of the star points when assembling the final sets. That one gave me the most trouble.

eileenkny: Which triangle? There is 2 1/2 cut on the diagonal and 2 3/4 cut on the diagonal. The white has two different sizes. I cut the sizes per the directions and did not have any issues.

I'm having some trouble with this. Do I need to cut the triangles larger? I'm not very good at paper piecing, but had 2 friends, who are very good at it, helping and still couldn't get some of them to cover the entire area. I'm open to anyone's advice.

I did Sue Garman's 2009 BOM. It was similar in a few ways to this one. All those thin red borders are able to be adjusted to make all the pieced borders fit. Don't worry!

Durstgirls.

I had several issues with printing out the pattern PDF. My HP print driver on my Mac no longer has the print actual size option. A friend told me to use the scale option. And set the scale to 100%. And it worked

This is my first major machine project and my first paper piecing experience. I left the paper on the back while stitching my parts to complete the square. So I came out with exactly 16 1/2 inches.

However I can say I have developed a close bond with my seam ripper.

From what I gather, in subsequent months Sue gives us pointers of how to correct this by adding perhaps a slighter larger border for the next month or perhaps a smaller one that will adjust to the size we need. I have done this is other projects I have worked on and it works out beautifully. I am still struggling with getting my printer to print the correct size but will keep working on that issue. Testing my skills as well.

So how do those of us who are off by 1/4 of an inch actually fix that in the next block?

First month done. It is off by 1/4" but that could be my piecing. There use to be a place to post pictures of the BOM but can't find one for this year's. I don't like scrolling a bunch of messages to see the blocks. Anyway here is mine for month one.

Cherryhill, WAIT, do not add a tiny border now. You will be able to fix this easily in Month 2. Not to worry, it will all work out perfectly.
