We love this cheerful quilt, Sunflower, by Sara Bradshaw and Danielle Johnson. Not only is it bright and colorful, it seems to have an unlimited number of quilting designs. How many do you think there are?

Appalachian Spring by Judy Martin is included in her Singular Stars book. It was part of a special exhibit of her quilts at AQS QuiltWeek Spring Paducah 2019. The quilt is a strip pieced Lone Star quilt, but somehow Judy managed to make the traditionally "straight" lines of the quilt appear "curved," giving it an almost flower-like shape in the center. Can you see how she did it?

Hint: the strips are part of the fabric. Look at the detail picture below.

THE MARBAUM COLLECTION: VARIATIONS IN TECHNIQUES
APRIL 20, 2019 – JULY 14, 2019
FINLAYSON GALLERY

Discover a selection of quilts from the Marbaum Collection - a unique collection of 87 art quilts generously donated to SJMQT for its 40th anniversary - on display for the first time. Marvin and Hilary Fletcher started acquiring quilts in the early 1980’s, eventually establishing a formidable trove of works from nearly 80 artists, bearing witness to the diversity and vitality of quilt-making from that time, to the present.

The Marbaum Collection is both an invaluable resource for artists and researchers to explore, and a deeply personal collection woven together by the Fletchers’ long standing passion for and philanthropic support of art quilts. The gifted collection, unprecedented in size and scope for San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles, will travel internationally before joining its new home in San Jose in 2020.

Sparrow 25 owner David White says,
"Just bought this machine (Sparrow 25) LOVE IT!!!! I got the embroidery foot (Darning foot) and this machine does quilting free stitching great, The letter feature is excellent. This machine uses standard feet, bobbins and needles so on a Sunday afternoon you can find what you need.  The speed feature is my favorite and the granddaughter loved it too.  I rate this machine 5 stars all the way."
