Appalachian Spring by Judy Martin is included in her Singular Stars book. It was part of a special exhibit of her quilts at AQS QuiltWeek Spring Paducah 2019. The quilt is a strip pieced Lone Star quilt, but somehow Judy managed to make the traditionally "straight" lines of the quilt appear "curved," giving it an almost flower-like shape in the center. Can you see how she did it?

Hint: the strips are part of the fabric. Look at the detail picture below.

What a gorgeous quilt and intriguing! I kept stepping back from my monitor and then stepping closer again. I would love to see this quilt in person!

I have seen the quilts in this book. It is amazing how they are designed. Brilliant rendition! It would be great on a young persons bed, BUT me, I an a traditionalist, and love the ones I grew up with at my Grandma's and Great Aunt's.

Wonderful!
I think the bits flying into the border is a border print.

This is a happy quilt.I love The graphics, the curves, straight bits in the background, and the borders. The quilting really adds to the design. It is really a terrific quilt.

If you look at the center of this quilt it seems to pulse just a tiny bit.

That is lovely! I just know that took a lot of planning.
