Amy Pabst walked Lilo through a number of her log cabin quilts which were featured in her exhibit, Log Cabin: 100K. The series of quilts focused on miniature scale and explored the unlimited layout and design options of the log cabin block. There are a total of 102,779 individual pieces in this exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in Houston 2019 and some of them are very, very small.

Lilo recently visited the European Patchwork Meeting in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, France and discovered a wonderful exhibit they were featuring there. Swiss quilt group patCHquilt was celebrating their thirtieth anniversary by putting on a showcase of 100 challenge quilts for the occasion. The challenge was open to all members of the group of every skill level and each quilt had to adhere to the following criteria:

Ricky had a special feeling for this quilt that he selected as his Judge's Choice at the International Quilt Festival in Houston 2019. Lilo caught up with Nancy Arseneault in front of her quilt, Save the Last Dance for Me, at the International Quilt Festival 2019 in Houston. Nancy talks about her love for "day of the dead" quilts and the origin of this particular quilt. In a strange coincidence, we taped the interview on Dia de los Muertos.

Nancy Arseneault is now an Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame Inductee for 2019. They write,
A third-generation quilter, Nancy has brought innovation and inspiration to the quilting world for over 40 years. Since 2004, she has been an active leader in the Tucson Quilters Guild. Her roles have included Program Co-Chair, Judging Co-Chair, instructor,mentor, author, and ambassador.
Nancy’s achievements include many accolades for her whimsical series of quilts based on the Mexican Day of the Dead. Her Dia de los Muertos quilts were featured in Quilters Newsletter Magazine and on episode #1907 of The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims. Nancy has had eight quilts juried into the Houston International Festival Show, with an award in 2014. She has had six quilts juried into American Quilters Society shows, three Road to California shows, and three National Quilt Association shows. Nancy received Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame Awards in 2011 and 2019.

In this show Nancy and Lois each share a technique for machine quilting. Lois gives you a clever way to quilt concentric circles in metallic thread and Nancy walks you through her machine quilting process, offering advice from preparing your sewing machine and work area, through proper bobbin winding and making sample thread sandwiches.

Houston is a city of art, events, and music. This fountain is right outside the convention center and was created by Joe O'Connell and Creative Machines. It is called "Wings Over Water" 2016. You need to not only see it, but to hear it.

A single picture can capture a lifetime of feelings. Lea McComas is amazing at that process. The Long Goodbye is a quilt that brings a texture and feeling to a special moment showing us a special love. Thank you Lea and congratulations on winning the Superior Threads Master Award for Thread Artistry at the International Quilt Festival in Houston 2019.
