Lilo caught up with Nancy Arseneault in front of her quilt, Save the Last Dance for Me, at the International Quilt Festival 2019 in Houston. Nancy talks about her love for "day of the dead" quilts and the origin of this particular quilt. In a strange coincidence, we taped the interview on Dia de los Muertos.

Nancy Arseneault is now an Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame Inductee for 2019. They write,

A third-generation quilter, Nancy has brought innovation and inspiration to the quilting world for over 40 years. Since 2004, she has been an active leader in the Tucson Quilters Guild. Her roles have included Program Co-Chair, Judging Co-Chair, instructor,mentor, author, and ambassador.

Nancy’s achievements include many accolades for her whimsical series of quilts based on the Mexican Day of the Dead. Her Dia de los Muertos quilts were featured in Quilters Newsletter Magazine and on episode #1907 of The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims. Nancy has had eight quilts juried into the Houston International Festival Show, with an award in 2014. She has had six quilts juried into American Quilters Society shows, three Road to California shows, and three National Quilt Association shows. Nancy received Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame Awards in 2011 and 2019.

In this show Nancy and Lois each share a technique for machine quilting. Lois gives you a clever way to quilt concentric circles in metallic thread and Nancy walks you through her machine quilting process, offering advice from preparing your sewing machine and work area, through proper bobbin winding and making sample thread sandwiches.
