Ricky had a special feeling for this quilt that he selected as his Judge's Choice at the International Quilt Festival in Houston 2019. After experiencing a devastating fire in La Veta last year, Ricky has a heartfelt appreciation for those who work so hard to put out the fires. Please enjoy Saving Paradise by Jan Reed, Ricky's Judge's Choice at the International Quilt Festival in Houston 2019.

The quilt makes a sad reality look beautiful. The flames the shadowing each detail is perfect

One of my worst memories was having to evacuate ahead of a devastating wildfire, I left thinking my home is gone, worse than that was being told by animal control to leave my horses behind because "they were only horses". Myt verbal response to them isn't fit to be posted here, but with tremendous thanks to all the firefighters and God we were all safe. October 2017, my niece called, Tubbs complex fire came within 30 feet of my sister's home in No.Calif. again tremendous thanks to God and the firefighters they were safe. This quilt is stitch perfect.! Thanks so much for creating it! For those who don't know the tool in the quilt is called a Pulaski, used to create a fire break by hand. These firefighters are such a blessing!
