Sometimes we appreciate something more for its look than its purpose. Esterita Austin took that to heart by "finding the beauty in old and corroded man-made forms that naturally combine with nature." For this quilt that turned out to be a tree growing up through and old car in the aptly titled Trunk in the Junk. Featured at Houston 2019, "it incorporates an original transfer technique that is a form of monoprinting" along with machine quilting and painting. Hey, if you can't make the car run, at least turn it into something that's nice to look at.
