"Ocean Life" by Leslie Gabriëlse - Step by Step Creation

Have you ever wondered what it takes to bring a quilt from conception to reality? Well, fiber artist Leslie Gabriëlse has made a video showing just how he does that. He traces his quilt Ocean Life (48" x 96") from its beginning sketches all the way to the finished product utiltizing fabric and acrylic paint. I'm grateful for the opportunity see this work in progress. The time-lapse aspect of the presentation wonderfully shows the thoughts, techniques, and skills of the creator of this lively piece. I'll be watching it multiple times! It inspires me to go play ( and practice) in the fabrics.

Wow - good to realize how much real work goes into artistry! I didn't realize what the end result COULD be until I watched it al. Excellent, realistic demonstration of just a part of creativity. Thank you.

Good grief!!! What a wonderful surprise to find posted on The Quilt Show. And ditto to centaurea's comment. Fearless technique and a true artist at work. So many things to learn here. Couldn't help but think of Matisse.
