QuiltCon 2020: See "Arlo Quilt" a quilt by Carolyn Friedlander

Carolyn Friedlander took the hexagon shape and split it in half to create her Arlo Quilt. She then played with the orientation of the blocks while changing the color story.

Very creative and beautifully pieced but it creates too much visual tension for me. I, honestly, can't look at it for a long period of time!

Just for the fun of it: I did some strip-piecing, cut 60 degree wedges then assembled as half-hexagons>p ut into rows. Much easier to make hexagons this way. And depending on chosen fabrics, you can get all sorts of marvelous effects.

The over all quilt reminds me of the the relax the eye books of the 80's. The fabric choice is bold and I like the texture it adds to the quilt. Thank you for sharing.

Interesting concept. I like what newer quilters are doing with the traditional patterns.
