Kathy York designed her quilt, Two Halves, to have each half look beautiful on its own. But it is even more stunning when looked at as a whole.

Two Halves by Kathy York of the Austin Modern Quilt Guild was featured in the Modern Traditionalism category, sponsored by Marcus Fabrics | Studio 37 Fabrics, at QuiltCon 2020.

Wow! I didn't know my quilt was posted here! Thank you so much to everyone's kind comments!! For Judy M., this is not a prize winning quilt, as far as I know. It is okay with me if you don't like the quilting. I still love the organic feel of lines that are slightly askew and less than perfect, it's my jam. Also, the quilting lines were meant to compliment the design on the back. This is a two-sided quilt, and you are only getting to see one side of it. I still very much appreciate you for taking time to make a comment. There has been more discussion here than on my blog posts about this quilt, so I am loving it! Last thank you very much to Mary Kay Davis for the lovely photos!

If I could turn out something that looked like this, I'd be very happy.

I was taught that if one didn't have anything nice to say, one should not say anything. I may not care for the style of this quilt but someone worked long and hard making it and did a wonderful job of it. I like the color play in it and appreciate the work that was put into making it.

Whoa, I think we have finally heard from the quilt police in that first comment... I think that while it is not my colors or style, I still have to commend the amount of work that Ms. York put into this piece...it is impressive, she hand dyed some of the fabrics and quilted it on a domestic or midarm machine moving the fabric, patience and good eyes! Thank you for sharing...

I'm sorry, but the piecing is not as accurate as i would expect on a winning quilt. Nor is the quilting anything but boring and it, too, wanders from the straight lines that were attempted.

Interesting quilt. Love the green top.
Little crosses remind me of sparkling stars.
