I am a curious person...always wanting to understand and know the people around me. And, because I am a stitcher, I am especially fascinated by other stitchers. So here is the poll I am putting out there...Are you a Smorgasbord Stitcher:..stitching several projects at the same time? Or are you a Entrée Stitcher... working on one project at a time??? Curious minds want to know. I would also like to know why? As you may know, if you have been reading my musings for a while, I am a Smorgasbord Stitcher. I am trying to figure out if it is a stressful way to stitch, and if it is even possible to change who you are?

When I am in The Bee Hive, I easily have a dozen different projects going, but on the road that number is decreased and yet I have a variety. I find having a variety keeps me from getting bored...but, I wonder what drives a Entrée Stitcher?

Currently the three projects I am working on are a personal design started in a Sue Spargo workshop, a Buttermilk Basin BOM designed by Stacy West,  and a free download cross stitch by Jacob of Modern Folk Embroidery.

So let me know...Smorgasbord or Entrée Stitcher?

Stay tuned and travel along with us on Quilt Roadies...where we are connecting one quilter and one shop at a time!!

I am definitely a smorgasbord quilter. Right now I am working 2 wool BOM’s with on-line groups. #1 is Maggie Bonanomi’s Village Green, with the group Buttermilk days, and Lori Smith’s Mother Earth.with threads Of Folk Art. We are full time RVers and since we don’t always find quilters I have contact with other stitchers. Another facebook group I discovered is RVQuilters. I have taken a note from your Beehive and make a list of monthly goals it includes the 2 BOMs , one UFO,and 1 get organized project. Thanks for all you do to keep we nomad quilters involved.

I too am a smorgasbord stitcher. Mainly because i get bored working on just one thing at a time. And also because there are so many awesome things out there that I want to make......so I work on several at once.

What a great term! I have often referred to myself as having Buffet Brain- wanting to Fill my plate with so many tempting delights, yet then when I look down it seems like too much so I nibble on this then nibble on that- taking a bit longer to finish any one thing!

Your little trailer is so cute!
I think I am somewhere in between smorgasbord and entree? Where piecing is concerned, more entree --one project at a time plus the leader ender project which is more for convenience. I do have several tops waiting for the longarm, but I tend to do those in batches. I would enjoy having a handwork project, but my older hands/fingers don't agree. Anyway, it would take forever to finish because I don't have much time for that any more. All said, I find one-at-a-time more relaxing and more efficient. Interesting question!

I too am a Smorgasbord stitcher. I have pieced projects, wool applique, redwork, art quilts, all in process at the same time. Gives me variety as well as hand work that can go any place with me. Oh and there's also the quilt on the long arm and those needing the binding. Yep, one huge smorgasbord of projects. BTW, thanks Anna for turning me onto Buttermilk Basin. I'm hooked.

I am definitely a smorgasbord stitcher. My current active projects are string blocks for a Bonnie Hunter design, quilting an Edyra Sitar pattern and working on two cross stitch patterns at night, There are numerous other started quilts and tons of ideas in my head. I also like variety and when I feel overwhelmed with numerous projects I make a list and try to focus on things that can be finished quickly.

Wow love the name Smorasbord! I can’t just eat one Entree! I am always working on at least 3 wool works, 2 paper peice quilts and 3 or 4 other quilts! Some I have to really think and others just for pure fun! Thanks

I am smorgasbord that needs to finish something to feel fulfilled. So...I am neurotic.

definitely smorgasbord - applique (2 projects one cotton and one wool) - piecing - QOV - art quilting - english paper piecing - (making a clock with EPP and an optical illusion wall hanging) oh and knitting for my youngest granddaughter.. AND knitting pocket prayer shawls for a local church : could not possibly do only one thing at a time - used to knit, read and watch tv at once!
