What can I say but, WOW...the Panama Canal and Sue Spargo all on one trip! Definitely an epic adventure! Stitching, volcanos, ancient ruins, handmade chocolate...yummm...and really good coffee!

I love classes with Sue Spargo because she has a relaxed way about her which makes learning all those stitches less stressful. The other advantage of any Sue Spargo class is that at least half of any class is made up of repeat students, which means you will have more stitching support!

This cruise was no different, and it wasn't the first stitch rodeo for over half the class. If Sue was busy with stitch support, there was always someone else who could help you. It was great meeting stitchers from all over the nation who shared a common passion. Several of the students were starting a new class project, but a lot of us brought our own projects to stitch.

I hope you will enjoy the photos and be inspired by some of my classmate's work. I had a wonderful time and left the cruise with an ever hopeful heart that I will be able to finish ALL my UFO's!

I took a "folk quilt" class from Sue Spargo back in 2004 in Walnut Creek, CA ... back in her early teaching days. The class was several days long and we all had a great time learning from her. She gave each class-member a gift of a "strawberry" emery (that usually comes with the tomato pincushions) along with some small pieces of boiled wool and then proceeded to show us how to turn that plain old strawberry into something wonderful. I still have mine. And currently, I even have the folk quilt I finished in her class on my bed. It's amazing to see how her passion for stitching and wool-work has bloomed over the years.

Love the button size samples. A work of art in them selves.
