I took a "folk quilt" class from Sue Spargo back in 2004 in Walnut Creek, CA ... back in her early teaching days. The class was several days long and we all had a great time learning from her. She gave each class-member a gift of a "strawberry" emery (that usually comes with the tomato pincushions) along with some small pieces of boiled wool and then proceeded to show us how to turn that plain old strawberry into something wonderful. I still have mine. And currently, I even have the folk quilt I finished in her class on my bed. It's amazing to see how her passion for stitching and wool-work has bloomed over the years.
