I do this because that's what my grandma taught me.
How ever ironing on a cutting mat is a no no in my mind ( think warping)

may mom used to sprinkle the shirts (fabric) then put them in the freezer until she was ready to iron them- kept them moist for ironing as they thawed.

Every time I watch this I cringe because for sure I would burn myself with the iron with my hand in the position shown. Been there, done that.

This makes sense, good to know.

My mom always sprayed the dry clothes with water, rolled them up, put them in a plastic bag and let them sit overnight in the refrigerator. The next day, the moisture was evenly distributed and the ironing went smoothly and easily. She was a real pro at sewing, cooking and working full time. She was amazing!

wish I had seen this before my struggle with an incredibly wrinkled piece of fabric. This is a great video

Hi Laura. Did you use steam in your iron?

This is exactly how my mom used to prepare clothes for ironing. She sprinkled water on the clothes then rolled them all and put them in a basket to dampen evenly. It was much easier to get wrinkles out.

MY Mom ironed my Dad's shirts this way. Used a sprinkler, then rolled up the shirts. They sat by the iron until she was ready to iron!
