Which kind of quilter are you? Vote below.

How do you baste your quilts? Do you go old school and use a needle and thread? Are you a pin baster? Do you use spray baste? OR do you not baste at all? (Perhaps you have a longarm?)

I use Elmer's washable school glue in a carpenter's roller bottle to baste my quilt sandwiches. The glue washes out and I've NEVER had even one pucker in the more than 50 quilts I've done this way.

I'm new to quilting and I do not believe I could hand baste and then quilt it. Whenever I can alleviate double work, I try.

I usually will spray baste but it also depends on how I plan to quilt it.
For hand quilting I do thread basting, either by hand or with a skip stitch on the machine. I also try to remember to use water soluble thread when I do (and usually forget until I am half way through quilting) as it makes it so much easier to remove it after the quilt is completed.
I will occasionally pin baste but it kills my hands, even with the tool to help with it.

Pin basting works best if you are machine quilting, but since I am a hand quilter, I prefer hand basting for larger quilts. I do, however, pin baste baby quilts.

It depends on the project. On my long arm, I pin the quilt top to straighten first, then thread baste. When I do sit-down quilting, I tend to spray baste.

I don't use any of these methods. I have an Avery Microstitch tool and use that for basting quilts. Quicker than sewing, they can be sewn over unlike pins and are easy to remove when finished.
