2017 International Miniature Quilt Exchange 2017 International Miniature Quilt Exchange

Pictures of all quilts

It would be very rewarding for me to see all the amazing entries that were entered. We all worked really hard during this exchange and part of the excitement for me was the thought of seeing all the quilts at the end. Is it at all possible to set up a Facebook page or anything else for us to view all the entries. Thank you again for the great learning opportunity.

Post pictures of them both, so long as your partner is happy for you to do that. That is what other people have been doing.

Should we post the mini that we made or the one we received?

The Facebook page is called Friends of IMQE and you have to ask to join the group. People are sharing quilts all the time on there with some stories about them as well. Hope to see you on the FB page.

There is a Facebook page and quite a few quilts have been shared/shown on there. You can share your pictures so long as you are not a finalist. The quilts selected for Houston cannot be shown until people see them at Houston.

If anyone is sharing pics, where are you showing them?

I’m including the quote from the email received announcing whether you were selected or not. I’m sorry to have attributed it to Ricky, but since he was the one who did the video on how to photograph the quilts, I made an assumption that it came from him. Apologies if I was wrong. This information just hit me the wrong way. To me, it suggests we should be embarrassed about showing the photos of our quilts.

I will say I tried to upload a high definition photo from my good SLR camera and the website would not accept it, saying the file was too large. I ended up having to take the photos with my iPhone. I recall several other people having the same problem.

To leave someone’s photo out of showing them to everyone because they couldn’t get a professional looking photo is not nice IMHO.

From the email:
“Photography Is Important
Poor quality photographs (skewed, poorly lit, blurry, etc.) often results in a quilt being removed from consideration. TQS plans to share many quilts online, but quilts which are poorly photographed do not represent the quilt or the quilt maker in the best light.”

I agree, I really can't see that anyone would be embarrassed to have their quilt photos shown. I have not seen any comments from Ricky that say this. We are ,of course, all at different skill levels but surely that is the joy of entering this challenge. We can all learn from one another, if we can see and enjoy all the quilts. It has been a great journey, both in the challenge and in making a friend. I think we would all be proud to share our photos with other participants of the challenge

I’m not embarrassed ro have my quilt shown online, but at the same time, I would like to know if it is possible to say that I would prefer for it not to be shown until after the exhibition debuts in Houston. My exchange partner and I are not finalists, but we are going to the show in November and will be meeting there for the first time. We both have agreed that we really would like to exchange our quilts in person, and for that to be the first time that we see the quilts. I really want to be there to see her reaction to the quilt in person, and so does she.

Sooo... is it possible to say we would prefer the quilts of team 181 not to be shown online until November?

I can't believe anyone would or indeed should ,be embarrassed to have their quilt photos shown . The fact that all these people who have been brave enough to take up the challenge shows that they expect their quilts to be seen ! We all know that not everyone is a professional but that was never the criteria. I am thrilled to have made a great friend with my exchange buddy and I'm sure others feel the same , but like others ,we would love to see what everybody else has done .

I totally agree with this. Maybe my quilts (since I did 2) didn’t meet the exacting standards of the judges, but I’m not embarrassed by my work at all (to quote Ricky that some of us would be embarrassed to have our quilts photos seen) and I’ll bet everyone else who worked on the exchange feels the same way. I want to see what everyone has done.
