Mermaid Thanks - I made this 9x11in quiltlette as a thank you gift for friends in Ventura, CA. As long time sailors, they've collected quite a bit of seaside themed art. I haven't done much free form, raw edge applique, but I thought it turned out quite well! After all, how can you go wrong with batiks?

Mermaid Convergence Quilt - A Convergence Quilt from Ricky's book with a mermaid and fish applique design.

Mermaid Twins - Mermaid Twins of Batik fabrics appliqued by machine and machine quilted. Underwater scene with sealife below and boats on the waves above.

An Island of Hope in a Sea of Purple - Made for Alzheimer's Quilt Initiative to be auctioned or sold to benefit Alzheimer's Disease research. Randomly pieced with purple batiks, one white daisy, Tintzl, covered with tulle.

Big Island Anthurium - While living in Hawaii, I took a workshop with Jane Sassaman that challenged me to do original work. Anthuriums, the native flower of the Big Island, are easy to draw. I once thought that applique was the A word but Jane's techniques enabled me to make this quilt and many others.

Electric Feathers - Electric Blue was my first attempt to make a quilt to enter into a show...after 20 years I decided it was time. It is an original design drafted with a feathered star in the center. All the quilting designs are original drawings as well. I used the templates to draft feathers in the large triangle pieces and then quilted a wavy feather in blue thread through all the black sashings.

Birds of a Feather - My guest room is called the birdhouse room because it has a collection of birdhouses in it. THe quilt on the bed is Thimbleberries' Safe Haven and this quilt now hanging on the wall to complete the collection.

Flora's Feathers - Made in loving memory for my mother Flora who was born in Indonesia. Indonesian batik whole-cloth with raw-edge appliqué, trapunto, heavy threads bobbin work and added color with paint sticks and Lumière paint. Machine quilted using adjusted quilting patterns from Karen McTavish's book The Secrets of Elemental Quilting: Innovative Quilting Designs plus Trapunto Tips & Tricks

Starred & Feathered - I made this for my daughter using traditional blocks, designed in EQ7. The little log cabin blocks around the outside are only 6" square.

Thunder Island - This is a signature quilt commemorating a group camping event. It is done in mostly civil war reproductions with a batik campfire in the middle. The camping event took place in Cascade Locks, OR at the old Locks.

The Magic of Color - Pattern digitized by Virginia Key and Bonnie Rosenbaum for BOM classes at Ann Silva's Bernina. Embroidery machine applique instead of by hand.

Pyramid Color Play - This is a project in my new Book, Fun With One Block Quilts. So simple, there are no seams to match in the construction. The hardest thing is choosing what fabrics to use next!

Color Drops - Paper pieced pattern done in batiks and hand dyed cottons.

Paradise in the Garden - I fell in love with New York Beauty blocks and scrappy quilts. This was a joy to make from beginning to end. Honorable mention at Quilts on the Grand 2004

There are Pansies in My Garden - This quilt was created when I took a class with Carol Doak. I love paper piecing and love taking classes with her. This hangs in my foyer.
