Jerry and Shari's Wedding Quilt - This quilt isn't quilted yet, but is on the calendar for July. This will be a wedding gift for my brother who is getting married in September. (Finally) They have watched me make many quilts for my nieces. This will be their first quilt. The colors represent their birthstones. What a beautiful combination!

Spring Riot - A challenge requiring a season of the year & trying a technique never used. Based on my photographs, I drew my own design & attempted machine trapunto, and free motion embroidery, along with machine applique.

Modern Warrior - This quilt is about modern US soldiers with guns, grenades, and poppies from Afghanistan. It's black & clear vinyl- hand stitched- & the white color is the batting showing through.

Shadows of Hawaii - Made for a two-fabric guild challenge, using shadow trapunto, as taught by Karen McTavish, to create the illusion of a third fabric

Healing Heart - I started this because I needed some hand work while on a 3 month overseas vacation. I finished it sitting by my mother's bedside while she was recovering from open heart surgery. UPDATE: Ironically, this quilt will be featured on June 15th which is my mother's 90th birthday and once again I am sitting by her hospital bedside (10 years later) as she is losing her battle with heart disease.

Hawaiian & Pineapples for 90th Birthday - Made for Mother's 90th birthday, 90 seven-inch pineapple blocks surround a 21" Hawaiian applique block. Center is hand appliqued and hand quilted. Pineapple blocks are machine pieced and quilted.

JoAnn's Bear Paws - I made this for my sister who collects teddy bears. I thought the bear paw pattern was perfect for a quilt for her. After I gave it to her, she told me she always wanted a bear paw quilt. That made this quilt even more special. Fellow TQS member, Kelly Kreft (Koala58), did an outstanding job of quilting it.

Bee's, Bunnies and Bear's - I offer this pattern for sale to quilt shops and on my website at www.desireesdesigns.com. This baby quilt pattern comes with enough pieces to make either a boy's quilt or a girl's version. The pattern allows design choices that make it new and original each time you make it. I have included several bee's, either pulling or holding a banner where the new babies name or birthdate or a special poem can be added. This is a very popular and fun quilt to make. Bear Claw Tablerunner - This is a pieced and paperpieced pattern by MH Designs. It's 12 inches by 26 inches and was fun to make. I displayed it at the 2007 Quilts of the Plains Show in Wray, CO, and it won a blue ribbon in their Miniature Quilts category.

BEARly PAWSing in a Blueberry Patch - Bear face and rest of the background is fused and free motion appliqued. It was a challenge quilt on habitats, using the tan and green in the bear paws also the blue in the sky. The bear is made using a technique learned from Pam Holland, using many fabrics to build the bear and then thread to blend between colors.

Hot Purple Passion - This quilt was made for our daughter who loves purple and has quite sophisticated tastes. The material used for the darker purple areas has a gold line throughout the print and was more sophhisticated looking than regular quilting cotton fabrics. It is the reverse of the pattern used in the quilt "Jason Loves Green" This is an easy quilt for even a beginner to do because there was a limited amount of corners that meet.

Hot Pink Kisses - Made for the S.L.U.T.S. Room at the Compass Centre, my BFF Melissa Picha's retreat center. The room was named after our bee - Sophisicated Ladies United To Sew.

Hot Day In July - This piece was created as a tribute to the ladies of QBL (Quilting By the Lake) who gather each summer in Syracuse NY for 2 weeks to explore, challenge & further their knowledge of the quilt form by taking classes from International teachers. Most of the photos were manipulated, & coloured using Photo Shop & then printed onto fabric sheets. Many of the photos were then enhanced with glitter to give them a campy feeling. Timetex was used to form the curl in the filmstrips. The hand dyed background is a beautiful piece of fabric by Judy Robertson.

Hot Mama - I made Hot Mama for my sister Genie's birthday. Red is her signature color.

picnic fun - This quilt was shown at Road 2 CA, AQS Paducah, and SAQA Creative Force 2007.

Patriotic Picnic Quilt - I made this quilt to go with a picnic basket and supplies for a summer fundraiser at church. I like the Sawtooth or Lone Star block, so I pieced the squares and then played around with sashing and such until I found something that suited. It was my first time quilting with a long arm machine. When it was finished, I loved it so much I couldn't part with it, so I made my husband buy it back at the auction.

Baja Sunset - I created the main part of the top by stitching together half-square triangles, cutting them in half and re-assembling them to get the 2 inch squares I used to randomly blend the colors of the sky. I applied the cactus and mountain as raw-edge applique. This piece has a wide borders on which I used free-motion stitching to create the illusion of things seen in the distant haze of the sunset: mountains , a rabbit, coyote, various cactus and the setting sun and rising moon.
