Allison's Tennessee Waltz Quilt
Name of Maker: Linda Chandler
Allison's Tennessee Waltz Quilt - This quilt was made for Allison for Christmas 2008. I fell in love with a pastel version of this in one of our local quilt shops, "The Quilt Haus", but it was all in blues. So I had to make a more feminine version for Ally. This was my first attempt at scalloped edges. Now I want to do more of them. They are not nearly as difficult as I thought they would be.
Samantha's I Spy Quilt
Name of Maker: Linda Chandler
Samantha's I Spy Quilt - This quilt was made for Samantha for Christmas 2008. The hexagons are five inches. Except for the border, the quilting is all "in the ditch."
Javan's Quilt
Name of Maker: Linda Chandler
Javan's Quilt - This quilt was made for my grandson, Javan, for Christmas 2008. I had never done a quilt with a black background, but I liked the way it turned out. It was fun to machine quilt with Superior Thread's Rainbows. The colors really showed up (so did any mistakes)! Javan wants to be a musician, so he got the "jazziest" quilt I could come up with.
Shea's First Quilt
Name of Maker: Shea Smith
Shea's First Quilt - This quilt was improvisationally pieced and embellished by my granddaughter, Shea. She used some orphan blocks from her great grandmother as well a some of mine. She included fabrics she liked and did some machine embroidery on the quilt. Shea is 7 years old and wants to do everything I ( her grandmother) do. She is very creative. She wanted desperately to have a quilt in a quilt show ( like her grandmother ), so I layered her top and quilted it for her. She was so proud to see it hanging at the Booneslick Trail Quilter's Guild Show in November of 2008.
Kaitlyn's baby quilt
Name of Maker: vernalgrandma
Kaitlyn's baby quilt - I machine embroidered the blocks and then sewed them in a pattern of squares with sashing between the squares. This was my first "official quilt".
Jordan's Beach Party Quilt
Name of Maker: Linda Chandler
Jordan's Beach Party Quilt - This quilt was made from many of the bright colors in my stash, plus a few of the children's prints that I had collected for years. It was made to go on a bunk bed, so it is a little smaller than a twin size quilt. This was made for Jordan for Christmas.
Isaac's Quilt
Name of Maker: vernalgrandma
Isaac's Quilt - You can't see the quilting but I used a red thread to quilt the black border.
Brandon's I Spy Quilt
Name of Maker: Linda Chandler
Brandon's I Spy Quilt - I made quilts for Christmas for all of my seven grandchildren in 2008. This was for my grandson, Brandon. I purchased templates for this quilt back in 2000, and collected children's print fabrics for years. The templates come with a five inch hexagon and a four hexagon. This is the five inch version. The "I Spy Nap Quilt" is also published in the "P.S. I Love You Two!" book by Nancy J. Smith & Lynda S. Milligan.
Mystery Quilt 2006
Name of Maker: Tina Wright
Mystery Quilt 2006 - This was a mystery quilt project we did at our quilt quild. Each month we were given a different clue to which kind of block to make. It was great fun. This is also the first time I freehanded a design with my longarm.
Persia
Name of Maker: Marilyn Smith
Persia - I made Persia for the 2009 New Quilts From an Old Favorite Contest sponsored by the National Quilt Museum. This year's block pattern was Burgoyne Surrounded. I redrafted the block so that it would be skewed, pieced it, cut it out to the desired shapes, machine appliqued it and added the original center applique. The quilting on the background is all original paisley patterns that are made with machine decorative stitches. The paisley motifs are filled in with a grid pattern. A pebble pattern is the background for the paisley motifs. Quilting on the flower motif is free motion pebbles, "head bands" and straight lines. The quilting took a very long time to complete. The colors of this quilt are rather unconventional, but I think they make a statement.

Joy - This is an adaptation of Karen K. Stone's quilt pattern, Dilerious, in her book, Karen K. Stone Quilts. There are 114 different fabrics in this quilt and each block is different. This quilt was constructed by a quilt as you go method. It won first in applique quilts at AQS Paducah in 2008 and Honorable Mention in Innovation Large Applique at 2008 Houston Quilt Show. It appeared on the 2009 AQS Wall Calendar and will appear on the 2010 IQA Wall Calendar. It was on the cover of the November 2008 QNMagazine. It has been such a joy to me......no pun intended.
